Only 2% of all the Cadillac's in 1974 were ordered with this Firemist option. This car was purchased new by Ms. Velma Johnson from Carriage Oldsmobile-Cadillac, Inc. Waukegan Il on 7/22/74. Velma and her husband owned "Grand Bowling" Lanes there in town. She decided to special order a color for her Caddy that reflected one the popular colors of bowling balls in the day. For many years she drove the car to their bowling alley everyday and parked it out front. The car became so recognizable it was given the nickname "Bowling Green" by the town folk. Sometime in the early eighties Velma passed away. Her life long friend Virginia Elmgren and bowling team mate use to ride with her to the bowling alley and fell in love with the car. Virginia purchased the car and continued to enjoy the car until her passing in 1999 when she left the car to her daughter. After 32 years of loving care, this car stayed with her and her family until recently when we purchased it directly from her. Finished in Persian Lime Firemist (code 96), the paint job shows very well. Both the front and rear chrome bumpers fit nicely and finish is exquisite. The white vinyl landau top (code J) with the Cabriolet Roof option looks fantastic. The original aluminum trim pieces are present (including the front grill and rear panels) and still show well and period accurate. The headlights and taillights are in very good condition with no hazing or cracks. The car has a slight window tinting that compliments and completes the elegant car appearance. Inside, the front and rear Ivory leather (code 356) seats all look great with no minor signs of wear visible. The factory ordered door panels and dashboard match the exterior green color theme of the car and look fantastic. The original steering wheel matches the interior, and looks good. The air conditioning and heater perform as designed. The Ivory headliner looks great and green carpet with floor mats have normal wear marks, but look fantastic. The Cadillac AM/FM/ Tape player and CB radio continue period appearance and functions as designed. This Cadillac Coupe Deville features a 472cid V8 engine, fed by a Rochester Quadrajet 4 barrel carburetor. Power is transferred to the rear wheels by a Turbo Hydra-Matic 3-speed automatic transmission. Suspension consists of coil springs, DeDion axle and front roll bar. Drivers assist features include power steering, power brakes. 15-inch steel wheels with full Cadillac hub caps, with whitewall radial tires.
