This custom Ford comes with an interesting history according to our source (who knows the intimately). The car's southern past includes previous owners, one who restored the car in 2010, which included a $10,000 paint job, new trim pieces and accessories for a 1951 Crestliner and a rebuilt Flat-head V8. He sold it to a Ford dealership in Huntsville, AL, where it was proudly put on display in their showroom. Later the car was purchased by Mr. Sherm Smith (owner of Smith's Auction Company LLC) and added to his personal collection. This awesome Ford has been the recipient of numerous first place and people's choice awards, it's sure to do the same for you! 1950 saw a new Crestliner "sports sedan"a 2-door sedan with 2-tone paint intended to battle Chevrolet's popular hardtop coupe of 1950. The 1949 and 1950 styling was similar, with a single central "bullet" in the frowning chrome grille. The new Fords got the now-famous "Ford Crest" which appeared on the division's vehicles for many decades in one form or another. Ford offered the Crestliner in two color combinations, Coronation Red Metallic and Black or Sportsman's Green and Black. This was Ford's only two-tone vehicle in its line-up. Finished in a Sportman's Green and black custom paint, this sedan shows extremely well. All the original trim is present, complete and brilliant., however this "Crestliner" takes the trim a step (or two) further with the trim accessories from a 1951 Crestiner. We'll try to list all the options, but you'll have to see them in the pictures...to believe them! The headlights are adorned with chrome eyelids, the hood sports a "Rocket" hood ornament, front fenders come with chrome stars and lower fender protectors...chrome of course. Duel mounted spot lights, chrome handle guards color matching outside windshield visor, air vent window ventilation accessories and chrome rear fender tail fins with green "jewel" accents. The front bumpers with optional extended chrome overriders and custom grill fit is extremely tight and chrome finish is exquisite. The rear bumper mirrors the theme of the front with the only exception being the addition of a beautiful continental spare tire kit! The "Blue-dot" tail lights are in excellent condition along with the rear fender skirts. Custom chrome twin tail pipes, with the original 15-inch wheels presenting well with no signs of marring. Inside, the rich two-tone Dove grey cloth striped front seats and rear seats appear in excellent condition with only slight wear spots on the drivers seat's outside bolster visible. The matching grey door panels, black carpet and dashboard are a continuation of the striking Green & Black exterior of the car and look fantastic. All gauges are located in their original place have correct appearance and function as originally designed., however, the temperature and fuel gauges are inoperable. "Magic-Air" heating, ventilation and defrosting system (original literature included!)Borg, electrically wound clock (with original literature). Ford push-button AM radio (with original instruction booklet)The beautiful originally equipped "Crestliner" steering wheel is in excellent condition and functions as designed. Also included is the "Quick Facts" booklet from Ford and the original owner's manual.
