1949 Cadillac Series 62 Sedan High quality restoration Recent reupholstered interior Recent repaint Brakes & transmission overhauled Original gauges & working radio Full size spare wheel & tire MotoeXotica is thrilled to present this handsome 1949 Cadillac Series 62 Sedan, which has undergone a high quality restoration. With WWII ending four years prior to this Cadillacs build date, the company had to once again prove it has the pinnacle of American luxury automobiles. American involvement in WWII caused a dramatic decrease in lavish styling, since most of the materials needed were used in the war effort, rather than used in the luxury cars of that era. Gone was the lavish use of chrome and oversized body panels, in exchange for much simpler and restrained style. However Cadillac still had its reputation of building the premier American luxury car to protect. Enter the Series 62 Cadillac; with a powerful V8 engine as standard along with more elegant body lines and superior build quality, Cadillac was back! This Series 62 MotoeXotica has to offer is an excellent example of a quality restoration. Benefiting from a well-executed two-stage paint job, this Cadillac looks just right in the pale blue paint. Most impressive is the bright work found on the trim and bumpers around the car. The signature grooved gravel guards, rocker panels, and lighting housing are in fantastic condition and show very minor signs of age. Even the factory original chrome hub caps featuring the classic Cadillac insignia are in stellar condition, the full size spare is in equal condition too! BF Goodrich Silvertown Classic wide-whitewalls are on factory 15 steel wheels, along with the trunk located spare, are in great condition with only minor road used indicated. Taking a step inside this classic Cadillac, further evidence of a drivers restoration can been enjoyed. Both front and rear bench seats with center arm rests have been recovered in a period two-tone grey cloth, which is in great condition and looks great too. Along with the new seat upholstery, the floor carpet and headliner have been recovered with a similar grey material; all of which ties the interior of this Series 62 together, quite well. The dashboard still retains the original gauges, the rare optional heater, even the original AM/FM radio works! A leather wrap covers the original brittle plastic on the steering wheel and indicator stalks. In a road test of the 1949 Series 62 by Mechanix Illustrated, the reviewer concluded that with this engine, Cadillac, despite its large size, out-performs just about every car being made. Thanks to the standard V8 and independent coil spring front suspension and leaf springs in the rear. Implementation of an overhead valve engine from the traditional monobloc was the catalyst that enabled these classic Cadillacs to receive such praise in performance, as well as, luxury. Appearing to retain factory Cadillac engine parts, the clean V8 is fed by a single-barrel downdraft carburetor, while air intake is handled by the factory oil-bath air cleaner. Holding to the subtle elegance of the Series 62, the radiator is made of polished brass, adding a period look to the understated engine. Everything in the engine bay is extremely neat and tidy, ready for any classic car show! While oversized hydraulic drum brakes help bring the large weight of this car to a stop. Overall this is a great entry-level classic American luxury car; they do not come much cleaner and simpler than this restored Series 62 Cadillac!
