1936 Ford Cabriolet, Model 48 Desirable WashingtonBlue Exterior Saddle Tan Leather Interior Upgraded 239ci 110 hp FlatheadV-8 3Speed Manual Transmission 2 Speed Rear Axle Same owner for 14 years MotoeXotica Classic Cars is pleased to present this handsome and rarely seen 1936 Ford Cabriolet previously owned by a gentleman from a nearby town here in Southern Missouri, and it was his pride and joy for 14 years. One really had to be on the top rung of the social ladder to even own one of these! This is a truly thirties icon classic, finished in rich Washington blue, paint shows extremely well with only minor crazing in the patina visible upon close inspection. Both the front and rear bumpers fit nicely and compliment the body. The vehicle's convertible top is a beautiful contrasting tan "Stayfast" cloth material. Both the paint and body show extremely well and aresure to impress. Please note that there is some crazing and checking present to the older paint, but the car presents itself well and is a consistent eye catcher as it sits. The interior continues the theme of the exterior with rich saddle tan leather on a front split bench seat and rear bench seat, which look great with no major signs of wear visible wear but showing some nice period patina. The door panels and dashboard also show well with only minor signs of age. TheModel 48, which is this Cabriolet's official title, was an update on Ford's V8-powered Model 40A the company's main product. Introduced in 1935, the Model 48 was given a cosmetic refresh annually. A new club cabriolet model was introduced with a fully framed windshield and weatherproof top. The look was updated with an inverted pentagonal grille with all-vertical bars beneath a prominent hood and three horizontal chrome side strips (on Deluxe models). A concealed horn, long a prominent part of the Ford's understated elegant design. The 1930's marked important changes in the automotive industry and important changes to Ford. With the Model T and Model A behind them, Ford competed rather well with Chevy, Dodge and Cadillac for the sales lead. New styling, a new engine, and changes overall to ride and appearance made these Fords from 1932 to 1939 quite popular. The look was updated with a new grill, and a number of new body styles. The Cabriolet, a two door convertible coupe with seating for four was one of the most sought after for its sportiness as well as its practicality. Originally equipped with a 221.0 cu in. V8 producing about 85 horsepower, the car presented here is equipped with a upgraded later model 239 cid flathead V-8 rated at 110 H.P. and a highly desirable 2 speed rear axle allowing the car to cruise comfortably at current highway speeds. The family memories that took place in this car's detailed history are numerous and heartwarming. From an ownership standpoint it can be said with great assurance that the previous owner's care and service was thorough and of high quality and is evident in the first drive. It starts on the first touch, settles into a good idle, 3-speed manual transmission shifts with ease and with the 2 speed rear axle can travel our highways at modern speeds. These Ford Cabriolets are becoming increasingly hard to find in such solid well kept condition and will delight even the most discerning early classic car collector or enthusiast. GET OUT AND DRIVE!!! Current mileage on the odometer shows 83,131, it is sold as is and is mileage exempt. The car is being sold on a clean & clear Missouri title. VIN: 182998851
