The previous owner stated that he spent over $78,000 restoring this Stingray in recent years. He states the '64 Corvette benefits very nicely from a body-on restoration, with the engine completely disassembled and given a high-performance rebuild including the addition of new cylinder heads on the original block. Combined with a free-flowing 3-inch exhaust system, the engine now produces over 400 horsepower and has fewer than 2,000 miles of use. The highly desirable manual transmission was rebuilt, as was the front and rear suspension and differential. Other new items include the dash and upgraded factory option leather seats, plus a new soft top. This Corvette is highly rare as it is one of the nine percent of cars built with factory air conditioning It is also part of the four percent of cars that are factory-equipped with competition-style knock-off wheels. Complete with both hard and convertible tops, it remains highly attractive and virtually impeccable throughout. This car will provide a great classic Corvette drive with a performance boost! Introduced in late 1962, the all-new Corvette Sting Ray was a watershed in the Corvettes development. Road & Track described its impact in 1975 as something of an engineering tour de force, especially for the cost-conscious domestic car industry. And if the 1963 wasn't quite perfect it still had drum brakes, there were unpleasant body resonances and the shift linkage buzzed it was to be refined steadily over the next four years under the able guidance of Zora Arkus-Duntov, acquiring better engineering and shedding styling excesses. Equipped with a modern ball-joint front suspension and a remarkably simple yet revolutionary independent rear suspension system, the Corvette matured into a true sports car. Carefully and continuously improved, the Corvette finally gained disc brakes at all four corners in 1965. It continued to feature an expanding list of available powertrain combinations. While many focus on the fuel-injected and big-block models of the era, the basic 327 cubic inch V-8 engine provided a winning combination of high performance with ease of maintenance and operation in the lightweight Corvette. In fact, with 360 pounds-feet of torque, the 300-horsepower 327 was a very capable performer, whether mated to a four-speed manual transmission or the available Powerglide two-speed automatic unit. The current mileage shows 26,159. The VIN number is 40867S106223and is being sold on a clear and clean title. GET OUT AND DRIVE!!!
