Description

One of 83 Ever Built! One of Only THREE Left-Hand Drive Examples! Beautifully Restored! Complete New Drivetrain! Powerful Aluminum Rover V8 Conversion! Borg Warner T5 Manual Transmission! Vintage Air Conditioning! Wilwood Front Disc Brakes! Ford 8.8 Rear End! Adjustable Coilover Shocks! The AC Greyhound was built from 1959 until 1963. It was a 2+2 version of the Ace and Aceca automobiles made by AC Cars of Thames Ditton, Surrey, England. The Greyhound, of which 83 examples were built, had a two-door, four-seat aluminum body and inherited most of the technical components of the Ace and Aceca. Only three Greyhounds were produced as left-hand drive; the rest were right-hand drive. In 1963, the Greyhound was equipped with a Ford Zephyr 2.6L inline 6 cylinder engine, capable of up to 170 horsepower, and a 4-speed transmission with optional overdrive. MotoeXotica Classic Cars is pleased to offer a seldom seen 1963 AC Greyhound. We are proud to say that we have one of the THREE left hand drive examples built. This is an exceptional, very cool European car. This particular Greyhound has benefitted from a completely new drivetrain, including a powerful V8 swap, and adjustable shocks for a great handling experience. The body of this car is very unique and hand formed out of aluminum. The lines are definitely those of a European sports coupe while being reminiscent of its distant cousin, the AC Cobra. The body is very solid and sound. The hood is louvered and looks great while allowing lots of cool, fresh air into the engine bay to keep the powerful V8 cool. The car is finished in a beautiful shade of metallic blue and it is absolutely stunning, especially when the sunlight reflects off the paint. The paint is in excellent condition and shows minimal imperfections. The chrome and trim on the car is in beautiful condition with a brilliant shine. One neat and quirky little detail on this car is that the rear license plate is protected by a small window that you can see the plate through. This is a truly spectacular and very rarely seen car that shows very well! Inside, the interior is just as nice as the exterior. The seats are wrapped in supple black leather and look great, showing minimal wear. The door panels, carpet and headliner are in comparable condition and look great. The dashboard is also finished in black and is accented by wood veneer finish. The dash houses a set of Auto Meter gauges and a Pioneer AM/FM/CD stereo that also look great! Under the hood, youll find a brand new powertrain. The original engine has been upgraded with an aluminum 215 cubic inch Rover V8 powerhouse, complete with aluminum crossflow radiator and electric fan. Mated to the engine is a Borg Warner T5 manual transmission. This car is equipped with electric power steering and Vintage Air conditioning. Big Wilwood front calipers, master cylinders and pedal assemblies bring things to a halt in this neat little car. The car comes with numerous receipts and instruction manuals for the newly added components. The previous owner has cherished this rare AC for the last 14 years. The car sits upon a Ford 8.8 positraction rear axle, inner and outer CV joints with Ford stub axles and hubs machined to utilize the original rear brakes. Coilover adjustable shocks on adjustable platforms assure the driver of a great handling experience. The chrome spoke knock off wheels are wrapped in 185HR15 tires that look great. These wheels are original to the car and show some age while still very presentable. Seldom does a car of caliber come up for sale to the public. While certainly not in stock configuration, the body and interior remain mostly stock while the powerplant and underpinnings certainly add to this ACs overall power, drivability and ability to stop on a dime while the added Vintage Air conditioning keeps you cool! As mentioned, this is a VERY rare car and its safe to say that another in this condition may never come up for sale anytime soon, certainly not a left hand drive rendition as you see here! Bid with confidence and add this beauty to your collection! The VIN is 2548 and the mileage currently shows 1,202. It is being sold on a clean and clear, mileage exempt Missouri title.
