Description

Are you in the classic convertible car market but you're not sure where to start searching? Why not consider this one owner 2005 Honda S2000 Convertible.

This car has only had one owner, who was a Boeing engineer that lovingly ensured it was protected within dry storage every winter between November and May each year. This example is one of 435 units finished in the same exterior color and one of 6,271 examples exported to the U.S. in 2005.

Dressed in Suzuka Blue Metallic, (code B513M), the car's paint and trim are in overall very good order. The previous owner reports a tiny paint flake appearing on the driver's door. A black, power-folding top contrasts nicely with the exterior hue. There is a rear-mounted ducktail spoiler and the engine bay is immaculate.

This nimble two-seater rolls on BFGoodrich g-force Comp-2 radials, size 215/45ZR17 in front and 245/40ZR17 in back. Each one is mounted to a factory alloy wheel. The wheels and tires are all in very good order. The car has four-wheel double-wishbone suspension, gas-pressurized progressive valve shock absorbers and xenon HID headlights.

Under the long hood is Honda's 2.2L DOHC 16-valve four-cylinder engine (code F22C1) with VTEC and a 11.1: compression ratio. Backing this motor is one of Honda's slick-shifting six-speed manual transmissions and a 4.1:1 rear differential with limited slip. Driver convenience features include air-conditioning; power rack-and-pinion steering; power four-wheel power disc brakes, ventilated in front and solid in rear; cruise control; power windows; power locks; and power sideview mirrors. A new battery was installed in September 2023. We have service receipts for a new started 6/23, alternator 1/24, oil change 6/23 and 150,873 miles.

Safety equipment includes dual front air bags, anti-lock brakes, brake assist, electronic stability control, seatbelt pretensioners, daytime running lamps and vehicle security system.

Inside, the blue leather seats look fantastic, especially when paired with the exterior. The matching carpet looks great. The black dashboard and three-spoke steering wheel are in fine form, as is the center console with console-mounted shifter. The inner door panels look great, as does the rest of the interior. The dashboard features digital instrumentation for the speedometer, tachometer, time, outside temperature, mileage, trip odometer and more. There's even a wind blocker to help promote cabin conversation while at speed.

The Honda S2000 was notable for its exceptional specific power output of about 124 hp per liter, or about two horsepower per cubic inch, the highest of any mass production, naturally aspirated-engined car, until 2010.

For the North American market, the updates also included the introduction of a larger version of the F20C (with a designation of F22C1); this larger engine gave the new model a chassis designation of AP2. The engine's stroke was lengthened, increasing its displacement to 2.2L. At the same time, the redline and fuel cutoff were reduced from 8,800 rpm and 9,000 rpm to 8,000 rpm and 8,200 rpm respectively, mandated by the longer travel of the pistons. Peak torque increased by 6% to 162 lbsâ‹…ft at 6,800 rpm while power output remained unchanged at 237 horsepower achieved at a lower 7,800 rpm. In conjunction with the introduction of the F22C1, Honda also changed the transmission gear ratios by shortening the first five gears and lengthening the sixth.

Convertible competition to this Honda in 2005 included Audi's TT Cabriolet, Chrysler's Crossfire Roadster, Mazda's venerable MX-5 Miata and Nissan's 350Z Roadster.

If you're looking for a classic two-seater that is not a MG or a Triumph or even a Miata, you should stop by MotoeXotica Classic Cars to check out this roadster before someone else takes it home. Wouldn't those sinewy curves and elegant lines look good in your driveway?
