1971 GMC K1500

$34,900

Description

While we have had many C10s and K10s come through our shop, we have far fewer of their GMC counterparts grace our place. This 1971 K1500 has undergone a complete restoration and for this model year, the trucks underwent a mid-cycle refresh. We are selling this GMC for a local consignor who has owned and restored this truck for the last 20 years.

Dressed in white over blue (white roof over a blue body), the truck's paint and trim are in excellent order. The bodywork is straight and solid, the engine bay and cargo bed are very tidy, the battery appears about four years old, the chrome bumpers fit tightly to the body. Overall a very nice truck with minor flaws. There is a full-size spare tire in the cargo bed.

This truck rolls on Sentry tires, size 205/75R15 at all four corners. These tires are mounted on factory wheels with manual front locking hubs. The tires and wheels are all in good, original condition. This truck rides a 115-inch wheelbase and a 5,800 GVWR.

Under the counterbalanced hood is a 350 CID V-8 engine with a K&N air cleaner and an Edelbrock intake manifold. The motor is backed by a Muncie SM465 four-speed manual transmission. Driver convenience features include air-conditioning, power steering and power brakes. Current issues: A/C, wipers, horn and amp gauge are inop.

Inside, the car's blue and white interior is in overall good shape. The white bench seat looks good, as does the blue carpet. The headliner matches the seat in color and condition. A two-spoke steering wheel looks great and frame a blue, metal dashboard with a full array of ancillary gauges. The inner blue and white door panels are in very good order. A floor shifter and a Custom Sound AM/FM radio resides in the dash.

For the 1971 model year, the Action-Line C/K underwent a mid-cycle revision, distinguished by updated front fascias for both Chevrolet and GMC pickup trucks. Chevrolets received an eggcrate grille design (with the Chevrolet bowtie emblem returning to the grille); GMC grilles shared the stamping as before, styled with additional blacked-out trim. In a chassis upgrade, all light-duty C/K trucks received front disc brakes as standard equipment. The interior underwent upgrades, introducing an optional tilt steering column for the automatic and 4-speed manual transmissions.

Competition to this GMC in 1971 included Chevrolet's K10, Dodge's D100, Ford's F100, Jeep's Gladiator and International's 1010 pickup.

Documentation includes a photo book of before and during photos and a folder full of receipts and invoices related to the restoration.
