1997 Mitsubishi Eclipse RS

SOLD

Description

Calling all Fast and Furious fans! This car is dressed in replica decals to match the motion picture The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift to give the iconic look of the Eclipse driven by Brian. (Paul Walker) Once the darling of the sports coupe club during the late 1980s, Mitsubishi's Eclipse grew larger and heavier 10 years later. We offer this 1997 Eclipse that has been slightly modified from stock.

Made in Mitsubishi's Normal, Illinois factory in May 1997, this example was originally shipped to Yark Mitsubishi in Toledo, Ohio.

Wearing eye-catching Lime Green paint with black trim, the car's exterior is in overall very good order. Sporting Fast and Furious replica decals. The car's bodywork is straight and solid, the engine bay is extremely tidy and the body-colored bumpers fit tightly to the body.

This car rolls on Venezia Crusade HP radials, size 225/40ZR18 at all four corners. Each tire is mounted on Enkei five-spoke alloy wheels. The tires are in very good order while the wheels are in good, original order.

Under the hood is a 2.0L DOHC, 16-valve four-cylinder engine (code 420A). It has a cast iron engine block and aluminum cylinder head. Other features include roller rocker arms, a fracture-split forged powder metal connecting rods, a one-piece cast camshaft and an aluminum intake manifold. This engine has intake ports facing the rear of the vehicle. Bolted to it is a five-speed manual transmission.

Driver convenience features include air-conditioning, power sunroof, tilt steering column, five-way adjustable driver's seat with memory, power assisted rack-and-pinion steering, power disc brakes, four-wheel independent suspension.

Safety equipment includes dual front air bags. Some of this car's modifications include Megan racing seats and Nismo harnesses. There's also a drift tachometer facing the driver.

A minor style revision was applied for the 1997 model year. The front grille opening was given a more aggressive profile. The headlights were given a sharper slant on the inner edges, and the previous all-chrome fixture interior changed to a black interior with chrome reflector inserts. The driving lights were revised from a reflector type to a smaller projection type. The rear bumper cap was altered and had the reverse lights restyled and moved out into the bumper fascia, away from their original central position by the license plate bracket. The GS-T coupe and GSX received a large rear spoiler. The interior color choices also changed from blue and grey in 1995–1996 model years to black/grey, tan/black, and grey in the 1997–1999 model years. A black leather interior option was only available in 1999; the package included all seats (with the 'Mitsubishi' logo embroidered on both fronts), door inserts and a center console armrest.

Competition to this Eclipse in 1997 included Acura's Integra, Chevrolet's Cavalier Z24, Chrysler's Sebring, Dodge's Neon, Eagle's Talon, Ford's Probe, Honda's Prelude, Hyundai's Scoupe and Tiburon, Mazda's MX-6, Nissan's 240SX, Plymouth's Neon, Pontiac's Sunfire GT, Saturn's SC2 and Toyota's Celica.
