2009 Cadillac XLR-V Convertible

You are forgiven if you think this Cadillac two-seat roadster bares a strong resemblance to Chevrolet's Corvette. Between 2003 and 2011, Cadillac's XLR-V and the Corvette shared GM's Bowling Green, Kentucky factory and the two cars also shared hydroformed perimeter frames and composite bodywork construction — though each had unique exterior and interior styling, suspension settings and engine. This rarely seen XLR-V has had the same owner since 2015. He purchased the car with only 14XXX miles, current miles are only 33,506.

This XLR was made on July 30, 2008 and was initially delivered to Gold Coast Cadillac in Oakhurst, New Jersey. This car's Crystal Red Tintcoat (code 89U) and trim in overall excellent order. The car's bodywork is straight and solid, the body-colored bumpers fit tightly to the rest of the car, the engine bay is very tidy and the cargo area looks great with its cargo net. We had the car professionally dry ice cleaned, take a look at how clean the underbody and suspension look.

Clues that this is a V-spec model include a mesh grille, quad exhaust tips, firmer suspension tuning and upgraded brakes. The car has just had new Good Year run flats installed all around with new brake rotors and pads at all 4 corners.

This two-seater rolls on Pirelli radials, size 235/45R19 in front and Goodyear Efficient Grip radials in back, size 255/40R19. Each one is mounted on a Sterling Silver alloy wheel. The car shared the larger brakes from that year's Corvette Z51. The wheels and tires are all in very good order.

Under the counterbalanced hood is a supercharged 4.4L DOHC 32-valve V-8 Northstar engine (code LC3) with variable valve timing (VVT). This motor makes 443 horsepower and 414 pounds-feet of torque. The supercharger and four intercooler cores were built into the intake manifold. Backing this motor is a six-speed automatic transmission (code 6L80). Driver convenience features are lengthy -- electronic climate control, speed-sensitive power rack-and-pinion steering; power four-wheel disc brakes; adaptive cruise control; power windows; power locks; power sideview mirrors; power seats with heat, cool and memory settings; power retractable hardtop; and cargo net. Magnetic Ride Control and foglights are also standard.

The car is also replete with safety features -- dual front airbags; anti-lock brakes; Stabilitrak stability control; traction control; tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS); side-impact airbags; theft deterrent system; high-intensity discharge (HID) headlamps; rear park assist; and theft deterrent system plus a Heads-up Display.

Inside, the car's cockpit is cozy with Ebony leather seats that sport Cashmere inserts (code 273). The seats and black carpet and headliner all look great, as does the three-spoke steering with satellite radio and other controls, the inner door panels, and center console with shift lever. A factory Delco-Bose infotainment system with CD player helps complete the interior.

The Cadillac XLR-V was a high-performance variant of the XLR and part of the first-generation V-Series, with a total 443 horsepower. Cadillac gave the public its first glimpse of the supercharged XLR-V in its Super Bowl commercial, which aired February 6, 2005. Super Bowl MVP Deion Branch was also awarded an XLR. The car was formally introduced at the 2005 New York International Auto Show. Contrary to popular belief, it was not intended to compete with the BMW M6 or the Mercedes-Benz AMG SL-Class.

Competition to this Cadillac in 2009 included Aston Martin's DB9 Volanté, BMW's M3 Cabrio, Chevrolet's Corvette Convertible, Ferrari's F430 Spider F1, Jaguar's XKR Convertible, Mercedes-Benz's CLK 63 AMG Cabriolet and Porsche's 911 Turbo Cabriolet.
