1969 Chevrolet C30

Description

Do you enjoy the classic look of General Motors' second-generation C/K truck yet seek modern bits underneath? Consider this 1969 Chevrolet C30 as a bit of a sleeper. It has undergone a recent refurbishment with a newer motor, 5 speed transmission, newer interior, new tires and more. Solid Californian truck.

Made in General Motors' Fremont, California factory (VIN code Z), this one-ton truck has a flatbed behind the cab, complete with an operational manual crane at the right rear corner of the bed. It detaches easily.

Dressed in red (code 514), this truck's exterior has retained its patina while wearing Darby's Garage established in 1969, livery yet many major parts have been changed out and/or modernized. The glass, lights, cab and flatbed look straight out of 1969.

This truck rolls on new Westlake CR960A tires, size 215/75R17.5. Each one is mounted on a white painted wheel that is glass-beaded and powder-coated. The rear axle features duallys, so there are a total of six tires instead of four. This truck rides on a 133-inch wheelbase and has a maximum GVWR of 14,000.

Underhood, a 350 CID V-8 engine replaces the original 396 CID V-8 while a five-speed manual transmission takes the place of the factory four-speed manual unit. The 350 has new headers and breathes via dual exhausts. Driver convenience features include power steering (code N40), a brake booster (code J70) dual sideview mirrors (code DG4) and tinted glass (code A11).

Inside, the cab has a new red-and-black vinyl interior. The red bench seat looks great while the black carpet is in satisfactory order. The red headliner appears in good, original order. The factory three-spoke steering wheel that looks great while the red dashboard and red and black inner door liners look great. This truck comes with a factory tachometer, speedometer plus ammeter and oil gauges (code Z53). A replica AM radio and floor-mounted shifter complete the interior.

For 1969, the interior underwent some component changes, adopting a foot-operated parking brake and a redesigned steering wheel; a two-spoke design (with a plastic horn button) replaced the previous three-spoke design (with a chrome horn button). On the exterior, the hood was redesigned with a blunter front end; Chevrolet trucks received a redesigned grille. Upper and lower side moldings were introduced alongside additional two-tone paint configurations; standard on CST-trim (GMC Super Custom) trucks, the side moldings were optional on any other trim levels.

Competition to this Chevrolet in 1969 included Dodge's D-300, Ford's F-350, GMC's Sierra 3500, International's 1300D-1500D models, and Jeep's J30.
