Description

1971 Alfa Romeo 1750 Spyder Veloce Series II One of 3,735 Spyder examples made in 1971 1.8L DOHC four-cylinder engine with SPICA fuel injection Five-speed manual transmission Alfa Red exterior (code 501) with black folding vinyl top and black vinyl interior Power brakes Rear luggage rack Documentation includes binder that contains owners manual information and a shop maintenance guide, another binder of instructions and maintenance, various maintenance receipts and a Sports Car Market Collector guide Not content with a modern Miata and a classic MG does nothing for you? Consider this Alfa Romeo 1750 Spyder Veloce. This Italian two-seater wears Alfa Red (code 501). It and the trim are in overall very good shape. The bodywork is straight and the engine bay is in very tidy, the chrome and rubber bumpers fit tightly to the body, the cargo area looks nearly immaculate and there is a chrome luggage rack for extra storage. The black, folding vinyl top appears to be newer with a small tear on the right side. This convertible rolls on Dunlop SP20 FE radials, size P185/70R14 at every corner. Each tire is mounted on a vented steel wheel, topped with a factory center cap. The wheels are in good, original order while the tires are in very good condition. Under the forward-hinged hood is a 1.8L DOHC four-cylinder engine with SPICA fuel injection. The motor is backed by a five-speed manual transmission. Driver convenience items include power brakes. The engine starts easily and runs smooth. There is some old seepage on the left side of the engine. Inside, the black bucket seats look great, as does the matching carpet. A sexy, three-spoke steering wheel with wood rim and a horn button on each spoke looks fantastic while the dashboard and inner door panels are in very good order. A trio of ancillary gauges, fuel, oil pressure and coolant temperature are canted toward the driver and support the speedometer and tachometer. The shift is mounted high on the center console. The right side door tends to stick and can take some effort to open. Which may be able to be adjusted. For 1971, modifications were also made to the suspension, brakes, electrical system, 14-inch wheels and 165HR14 Pirelli Cinturato CA67 tires, though the car looked effectively the same. Visible differences were limited to the rear-view mirror repositioned to the door and badging on the tail, which read Alfa Romeo and iniezione (injection). Documentation includes binder that contains owners manual information and a shop maintenance guide, another binder of instructions and maintenance, various maintenance receipts and a Sports Car Market Collector guide. There are holes in the trunk lid where the rack was installed and the luggage rack is included with the purchase. Competition to this Alfa Romeo in 1971 included Fiats 124 Sport Spider 1600, Lotus Elan S4 S/E and Porsches 911 Targa.
