The previous owner told us that there was over 2,000 man hours put into the build of this car! Wow! This was Studebaker's answer for the traveling business man!This '49 Champion is a VERY rarely seen "business coupe" that is sure to be a hit with everyone at the next car show or cruise night. Only 365 Champion Business Coupes were produced and it's unknown how many still exist today - especially in this phenomenal of condition! With its custom, brilliant silver paint and red leather interior, the color combination is incredibly striking. The paint on the car is in very good condition with minimal imperfections. There is subtle, dark silver pinstriping on the front center of the hood and trunk lid which looks excellent and gives the Studebaker just a touch of hot rod styling. There is nothing major showing anywhere on this very straight and solid body. Both front and rear chrome bumpers are in excellent and look great with a brilliant shine. The underbody of this seriously cool ride is as nicely finished as the top side! This is one seriously good looking car with a bullet nose front end that is definitely going to turn some heads!Inside, the custom red leather seats show no notable wear and are in excellent overall condition. The red leather with the silver paint is stunning color combination that is rarely seen in the Studebaker world! The gray carpet is in excellent overall condition as well. Headliner, door panels and kick panels are all in wonderful condition with no major wear showing. The dashboard is color matched to the exterior paint with small touches of pinstriping that is dazzling. The dash houses a set of gorgeous, Classic Instrument's V8 Red Steelie gauges that look awesome and all function properly! Beneath the dash, you'll see the chrome tilt steering column so that you may make your driving experience a comfortable one. There is also an aftermarket Alpine AM/FM/CD/MP3 player installed, as well as an Alpine amp and subwoofer. Other interior goodies include power tinted windows and a theft deterrent system. Under the hood, you will find a sleek 350 cubic inch, 4-bolt Chevrolet V8, complete with forged pistons, Stage II rods, a steel crankshaft and mild camshaft for some real get-up-and-go power. There's also an Edlebrock intake, MSD Ignition Box, aluminum radiator, electric cooling fan and a 4 barrel 650cfm carburetor. The RPM aluminum cylinder heads house 1.5" roller rockers and chromoly pushrods. The engine bay is exceptionally tidy and looks great with tons of chrome. The Studebaker was dyno tested at Ruble Racing and it made 393 horsepower at 5800 RPMs and 384 pounds of torque at 4700 RPMs. Mated to the V8 is a 700R4 automatic transmission with overdrive, a stall convertor and transmission cooler. The car is equipped with 4-wheel power disc brakes, rack and pinion power steering and Vintage Air AC. The warranty card is blank and comes with the car. The Vintage Air will need the hard lines connected from the compressor to the under dash components and a charge before it is functional however; all of the hard work and expenses have already been tended to. There is also Lizard Skin Ceramic sound & heat barriers throughout to help dampen typical road noises and boost the sound quality of the Alpine sound system. This car goes down the road with great power and is an excellent driver! The Studebaker sits upon a set of 15" red painted steel wheels with chrome center caps wrapped in P165/80R15 tires in the front and P225/70R15 tires in the rear. Other notable upgrades include an 8.5" 342 Posi differential, Mustang 2 front suspension, stainless steel control arms and QA1 adjustable coil overs.
