With a peppy 225 cubic inch Inline-6 that loves to rev, lightweight bodywork, and a top that goes down, this 1965 Dart 270 is affordable fast fun that's also a little out of the ordinary. Made in Chryslers Los Angeles, California (VIN code 5) factory on November 9, 1964, this power droptop left the line with the following optional equipment: drivers remote sideview mirror (code 1-1); variable windshield wipers with washer (code 3-9); heater and defroster (code E-2); and factory Music Master AM radio (Q-1). With its black license plates, made between 1963 and 1969, this is an original California car and the plates still match the current California title. This dependable classic car is from a personal friend of ours who purchased the Dodge from his business partner who bought the car from the original owners a decade ago. He has personally driven the car from LA California to Austin Texas to here in St. Louis Missouri multiple times in recent years. He now resides in California but his parents worked right here in Fenton Missouri at the old Chrysler plant and his whole family are die hard Mopar enthusiasts! Just check out the super rare 1927 Chrysler M62 we currently have for sale from his family! Finished in its original Ruby Red Metallic (code T), the cars original paint and trim are in good, original order but there are multiple minor blemishes visible upon close inspection. The cars bodywork is straight and solid, the engine bay is tidy and the AC Delco battery looks good. The cars original chrome bumpers are in very good order. This Dart rolls on American Classic blackwall tires, each one mounted on an original steel wheel and topped by an original factory wheel cover. The tires and wheel covers are in good, original order. Under that counterbalanced hood is Chryslers venerable 225 CID slant six-cylinder engine with its 30 tilt. It has a four-barrel carburetor, an Edelbrock air cleaner and an upgraded intake manifold. As its dance partner, this motor has Chryslers equally famous transmission, a rebuilt Torqueflite three-speed automatic and 2.93:1 rear end. Inside, the correct patterned red vinyl upholstery looks fantastic on the front bench with split seatbacks and the rear bench, as you would expect. The matching carpet mirrors the condition of the seats while the black, three-spoke steering wheel provides some contrast. The inner door panels and dashboard are in good, original order. A column-mounted shift lever and a factory Music Master AM radio round out the interior. Trim levels in 1965 were base, or 170 models, mid-range, or 270 models and the top-of-the-line GT models. Other new options for 1965 included upgraded suspension components and larger, 14-inch wheels and tires. Factory-installed air conditioning became available after the start of the 1965 model year, as well as disc brakes, which required the 14-inch wheels to clear the calipers. Front seat belts became standard. The Dart remained extremely popular through the end of its production run in 1976. Again, this car is a ideal dependable classic car for either someone whos just getting started in the hobby and wants drive with the top down!
