Nineteen sixty-seven was the final model year for the fourth-generation convertible. Built in Fords Wixom, Michigan factory (VIN code Y) on November 28, 1966 (trim tag code 28L) and it was delivered to the Denver, Colorado sales region (trim tag code 51). This example is one of 2,776 droptops made in 1967. The paint and trim are in good condition, with the body showing minor blemishes upon close inspection, particularly on the trunklid. The glass is in decent condition while the cars lights look great and the bodyworks straight and solid. The cars chrome bumpers are in very good order, the engine bay is in very nice original condition. Theres even a locking gas cap but the radio antenna is missing. This Conti rolls on American Classic wide whitewall tires, size 235/75R15 at all four corners. Each tire surrounds a factory wheel cover. The tires and wheel covers are in satisfactory condition. Under that forward-hinged hood is Fords 462 CID MEL V-8 engine, backed by a C6 Select-Shift Cruise-O-Matic three-speed automatic transmission (trim tag code U) and a 2.80:1 rear end (trim tag code 6). Driver convenience features include air-conditioning but inoperable, power steering, power brakes, power windows, power locks and a power, two-way front seat. Inside, the cars black interior (trim tag code 2A), is in satisfactory order. The two-way power front bench and rear bench seats are in decent condition and offer center armrests. The two-spoke steering wheel is present while the instrument panel and inner door panels are all in the same satisfactory condition. The horn and fuel gauge are inoperable. Completing the interior is a factory AM/FM radio. For 1967, the Lincoln Continental was given only minor trim updates, with the deletion of the Lincoln star emblem from the front fenders being the largest change. Several functional changes were made, as Lincoln added a number of indicator lights to the dashboard. Along with an oil pressure warning light, the dashboard was given indicator lights for an open trunk and the cruise control (if on). Following federal safety mandates, lap safety seatbelts became standard equipment, coupled with an energy-absorbing steering column. Following years of decreasing sales, 1967 marked the final year of the Lincoln Continental convertible, with only 2,276 sold. After becoming the first four-door convertible sold after World War II, the Lincoln Continental would become the final (as of the 2018 model year) example of its type sold by an American manufacturer. As a result of numerous frame reinforcements (in comparison to the sedan), the 5,712-pound 1967 Lincoln Continental convertible is one of the heaviest passenger cars ever sold by Ford Motor Company. Competition to this car in 1967 included Buicks Electra 225 Convertible, Cadillacs de Ville Convertible and Chryslers 300 Convertible, Mercurys Monterey Convertible and Oldsmobiles 98 Convertible.
