This Art Deco Chevrolet half-ton was one of the final 1942 half-ton trucks assembled before the production changeover. This seldom seen war time truck has had the same loving owner since 2012, residing in the dry state of Arizona! Built in Chevrolets Oakland, California factory (VIN code 6), this BK-series half-ton truck was professionally rebuilt by Arizona-Built Classics; a complete frame-off restoration. This example was built between October 1941 and January 1942. Dressed in Brewster Green over black with yellow trim, this truck is gorgeous and flawless. Beyond the paint and trim, the glass panels are clear and intact (note there is only a drivers side windshield wipers which is inoperable), the trucks lights (including both rear taillights somewhat rare on a 42) are haze-free and its body panels are straight and solid. The white pine cargo bed floor looks great, the engine bay is extremely tidy, and the battery appears new. A body-color sun visor is attached above the windshield; the trucks chrome bumpers shine brightly under artificial lights and there are antique-style fog lights over the front bumper. This BK-series half-ton rolls on Firestone Deluxe Champion gum-dipped tires, size 6.00-16 at every corner. Each tire is mounted on a steel wheel with yellow beauty rings and a factory wheel cover. Those wheel covers are in overall excellent order while the Firestones are in very good order. This truck rides on a 115-inch wheelbase and has a 4,600-pound gross vehicle weight rating. Beneath the veed hood with openings on drivers and passengers side is 216 CID Stovebolt inline six-cylinder engine that wears yellow from valve cover to engine block. The engine sports dual carburetors and Fenton headers. Backing this engine is a four-speed manual transmission and a semi-floating rear axle. Inside, the cab is just as beautiful as the rest of the vehicle. It is original all the way down to the metal floorboards. The yellow-gold bench seat is in excellent order while black mats cover the Brewster Green floor. The black two-piece headliner looks great, as does the three-spoke black steering wheel. The Brewster Green metal instrument panel and matching inner doors are in excellent shape. While the odometer shows 32 miles since restoration the speedometer/odometer are inoperable. The floor-mounted shifter is in very good order. The crank for the split windshield is at the top center of the dash. Some of ways to differentiate a 1942 from a 1941 include the parking lights (the 42 light is designed for the truck, lens is two inches long and bulb mount is vertical); the rear fenders (42s have five bolts above the bed and two below); door handle (42s have the lock cylinder separate and below the door handle); 42s have seven cargo bed boards versus six on the 41s; the rear window (42s are held in place with a large rubber seal like the windshield); and headliner (two-piece on the 42s; one piece on the 41s). The BG- and BK-series trucks shared front-end appearance with the 42 Chevy passenger cars. It was a heavier look with lower and wider horizontal chrome bars. Body appearance was longer, lower and more massive. Longer, deeper front fenders and a longer, larger front hood completed the appearance.
