Description

1974 Volkswagen Transporter Type 2 Custom Restored VW Rebuilt Porsche horizontally-opposed engine Four-speed manual transmission White over Olympic Blue exterior with gray and black interior VDO gauges Original wheels and caps and whitewall radials Custom rear bed cover and rear sliding window Blower motor, vent tubes in box at cab Documentation includes VW Restoration manuals and assorted parts books One of the many permutations the Volkswagen Bush came in included this Transporter Type 2, featured here at MotoeXotica Classic Cars. Part pickup truck and part van, this VW can haul five people plus cargo. Dressed in white over Olympic Blue, the paint and trim are in overall very good order, though there are blemishes at the right door and right rear quarter, on the right side of the bed and on the roof. This Combis glass panels are clear and crack-free while its lights are haze-free and intact. The Vee-dubs bodywork is solid and straight, its bumpers fit well to the body, the engine bay is tidy and the cargo area is in good order. This Combi rolls on whitewall tires, size P195/75R14 at all four corners, surrounding factory steel wheels with caps and beauty rings. The tires and wheels are in very good order. Other accessories include a front sunvisor shade and custom rear bed cover. What makes this Combi special is what motivates it; its powered by a rebuilt Porsche engine. Backing that motor is a four-speed manual transmission. Driver convenience features include power brakes. Inside, the front buckets and rear bench seat are finished in gray cloth and they look great. There is no carpet. Up front is corrugated metal under the drivers and front passengers feet while hardwood greets those who sit in back. The white headliner is in decent shape. The original two-spoke steering wheel is in satisfactory condition. The instrument panel is in similar shape, even though it shows cracks at the dash pad. The spartan instrument panel features VDO gauges while the inner doors are in satisfactory order. Rounding out the interior is a Clarion AM/FM stereo with CD player. Documentation includes VW Restoration manuals and assorted parts books. Competition to this Volkswagen in 1974 included Chevrolets LUV, Fords Courier and Dodges Ram 50 pickup trucks. Whether youre a Volkswagen fanatic or just looking for a rolling conversation piece, this VW Transporter fits the bill. This car is currently located at our facility in St. Louis, Missouri.
