The idea worked like a dream, as soon as word went out about the Shay, people flocked to showrooms to see them and place their orders. In response, Harry Shay immediately set up and began production of the Shay Model A Roadster. Although the target was to produce 10,000 units, the Shay Motor Company began having cash and legal troubles ultimately causing them to cease production in 1982 with only about 5,000 total units produced.
