The Jaguar Mark IX is a large luxury saloon car produced by Jaguar Cars between 1959 and 1961. It replaced the previous Mark VIII, and differed little in exterior appearance except for the new model name. It was replaced by the longer, wider and lower contemporary-styled Mark X in 1961.Around 10,005 units were made between 1959 and 1961 and excellent examples can be still be found, but it's not easy.The Mark IX was the first Jaguar fitted with the XK engine which had the slightly bigger bore making it a 3.8 L - 3781 cc, 220 hp DOHC straight six and improvement on the earlier 3.4 L. You will find that there is a sunroof, perfect for warm morning drives, that is excellent condition. The trim of the sunroof is finished with the same wood as the dash and looks exceptional. There are two small compartments on either side of the dashboard; the driver's side houses a hide-away Alpine AM/FM/CD/iPod/AUX stereo for a modern touch without tarnishing the original appeal of the interior.Under the hood you will find a true XK 3.8L 6 cylinder engine attached to an automatic transmission. Subtle upgrades and improvements to the brakes, transmission, exhaust and electrical systems ensure maximum enjoyment as a true driver's classic. Power brakes and power steering combined with the tried and true XK 3.8 liter engine guide the car along at highway speeds in consummate luxury.
