Description

The Mercedes-Benz R107 and C107 automobiles were produced from 1971 through 1989 and were described by many as one of the best looking cars Mercedes-Benz produced to date,[2] being the second longest single series ever produced by the automaker, after the G-Class. They were sold under the SL (R107) and SLC (C107) model names. The R107 replaced the W113 SL-Class in 1972 and was replaced by the R129 SL-Class in 1989. The SLC replaced the W111 Coup in 1971 and was replaced by the C126 S-class coupe in 1981.The SL variant was a 2-seat convertible/roadster with standard soft top and hardtop and optional folding seats for the rear bench. The SLC (C107) derivative was a 2 door hardtop coupe with normal rear seats. The SLC is commonly referred to as an 'SL coupe', but in reality it was an S-class coupe, replacing the former saloon-based 280/300 SE coup in Mercedes lineup. The SLC was replaced earlier than the SL, in 1981, with a much larger model, the 380 SEC based on the new S class.MotoeXotica Classic Cars is pleased to present the handsome 1976 Mercedes Benz 450SL you see pictured. This car has been with the current owners, who has lovingly maintained it and brought it back to what you see today, since 1989. The owner states that when purchased, the car had approximately 77,000 miles on the clock. This is a true classic Mercedes that is ready to hit the road!Finished in a shade of blue with an accenting blue pinstripe, the paint is in good condition, showing some minor imperfections such as rock chips and minor scratches, which is typical of a car that has been regularly driven. The body is sound. Back in 2003, the paint on both the car and hard top were taken down to bare metal and repainted by a professional car shop. This Mercedes has always been garaged and for the past 10-15 years, the current owner states it was only driven during the summer months. The owner also states that throughout the year, it has been taken out once a week to keep the battery fully charged and to stretch its legs. The car comes with both a factory hardtop and a ragtop. Inside, you will find that the interior is finished in blue vinyl. The entire interior was restored about 8 years ago by CARS Company and Automatch in St. Louis. They restored the seat covers, cushions, dashboard, rubber door gaskets and the new rag top. The interior is in good shape, showing no major signs of wear to the seats. The blue carpet and headliner is in good shape as well. The door panels show some minor imperfections such as on the driver's door, the pocket has come loose. The dashboard with wood accents is in great shape and houses all of the original gauges. An aftermarket Kenwood AM/FM/CD player has been added. The center console is where the gear shifter is located. There is also a windscreen for when you decide to go topless! Overall, the interior shows well. Under the hood, you'll find the strong 276 cubic inch V8 engine. Roughly three years after the current owner purchased the Mercedes, they had a comprehensive overhaul and rebuild of the engine by Splisgart Motor Company, out of St. Louis, due to excessive oil consumption. The engine has not had any issues with oil consumption since! The car was meticulously maintained by Old Style Body Shop, in St. Louis, for many years. Attached to the engine is an automatic transmission. This car is equipped with power brakes, power steering and AC. The car sits upon a set of 14" Mercedes Benz wheels wrapped in P205/70R14 tires. As mentioned before, this is a true classic Mercedes and an excellent summer vehicle with its interchangeable hard and rag tops! The VIN is 10704412031515 and the mileage currently shows 203,774. It is being sold on a clean and clear, mileage exempt Missouri title. GET OUT AND DRIVE!!!
