Description

A rat rod is a style of hot rod or custom car that, in most cases, imitates or exaggerates the early hot rods of the 1940s, 1950s, and early-1960s. The style is not to be confused with the somewhat closely related "traditional" hot rod, which is an accurate re-creation or period-correct restoration of a hot rod from the same era.Originally a counter-reaction to the high-priced "customs" and typical hot rods, many were seldom driven and served only a decorative purpose. The rat rod's inception signified a throwback to the hot rods of the earlier days of hot-rod culture-built according to the owner's abilities and with the intention of being driven. Rat rods are meant to loosely imitate, in both form and function, the "traditional" hot rods of the era. Biker, greaser, rockabilly, psychobilly, and punk sub-cultures are often cited as influences that shaped rat rodding. Most rat rods appear "unfinished", regardless of their status, as only the vehicle's bare essentials are driven.MotoeXotica Classic Cars is pleased to present the 1950 Chevrolet Rat Rod Pickup you see pictured. In typical Rat Rod fashion, what you see is what you get ... and this handsome truck hides a secret under the hood ... a 350 swap! Finished in two tone matte green and black, this truck has all of the charm that Rat Rod's are known for ... primer style paint and rust! Throughout the exterior of the truck, you will find handpainted pin-stripe details that really set off the custom look of the truck. Each door has a set of vinyl decals as well. The front chrome bumper is every bit of Rat Rod that it should be while the chrome door handles do show some pitting. The rear bumper is made out of wood and the truck bed is made out of aluminum. In the bed of the truck, there is an old school beer keg that holds the gasoline! Inside the truck, the matte green of the exterior spills into the interior. The Rat Rod motif also flows throughout the interior, complete with rust and pinstriping. The bench seat is wrapped in worn, brown cloth. The dash houses a set of aftermarket gauges. Under the hood, you'll find the strong powerhouse that is the Chevrolet small block 350, casting number 3970010, complete with a four barrel carburetor and Edlebrock intake. Attached to the engine is a 3 speed manual transmission. The rear suspension has been modernized and now has rear coil springs. The truck does come equipped with power steering. The truck sits upon a set of 15" polished dish wheels that are wrapped in P235/75R15 tires. This truck is a pleasure to drive and has been actively driven much of its life! The VIN is 3UJL1026 and the truck actually does not have an odometer so we are unable to share the current mileage. The truck is titled on a clean and clear Illinois title. GET OUT AND DRIVE!!!
