General Motors' first major redesign post-World War II, the Advance Design series was billed as a bigger, stronger, and sleeker design. First available on Saturday June 28, 1947, these trucks were sold with various minor changes over the years until March 25, 1955, when the Task Force Series trucks replaced the aging Advance Design model.From 1947 until 1955, Chevrolet trucks were number one in sales in the United States.A few changes occurred in 1951, the doors now have vent windows. There was a mid-year change from 9-board bed to 8 boards per bed. 1951 was the last year for 80 MPH speedometer, chrome window handle knobs, and chrome wiper knob. The '51 you see here has benefitted from a tasteful restoration and engine rebuild and looks stunning! We even have a stack of original handbooks and receipts for the truck!Finished in white, the paint is great condition, showing only minor imperfections. The body is in excellent condition and looks like it did back in its prime. This truck came equipped with running boards, a spare tire on the driver's side and a wooden bed floor that's been painted to match the exterior of the truck. The chrome on the truck looks great, only showing minor imperfections on the bumper. Overall, this truck shows tremendously well. Inside, the truck has been finished in brown. The seats are wrapped in a brown cloth/vinyl combination which looks great. There are no notable signs of wear or imperfections to be found on the seat. The door panels, headliner and carpet are all in great shape as well. The dashboard appears to remain original and looks awesome. Under the hood, you'll find a clean engine bay. The 216 cubic inch Inline 6 engine, casting number 3835497, has been completely rebuilt at a cost of over $5,900! Attached to the engine is a "three on the tree" manual transmission. The pickup sits upon a full floating rear axle, a set of 15" custom split chrome wheels that are wrapped in newer P235/75R15 tires. This is truly a beautiful pickup and would make a great addition to any collection. This truck came with the original 1951 Chevrolet Truck Operator's Manual, Chevrolet Truck Shop Manual, Chevrolet Truck Data Book, an original Chevrolet Truck magazine advertisement from 1951 and a stack of receipts from the restoration.
