1967 AMC Rambler 1967 AMC Rambler

The genesis of the Rambler American began when AMC President George W. Romney saw that AMC was in need of a small compact during the Recession of 1958. Romney also wanted to build momentum in AMC's challenge to the domestic Big Three automakers by adding a third car line. The first proposals were to modify AMC's captive import by extending the Metropolitan with a station wagon type roof design to make room for four passengers. However the 85-inch wheelbase of the Met severely limited the necessary interior room. On the other hand, the company had retained the tooling from its 1955 model Rambler. The old model's 100-inch wheelbase fit between its bigger family-sized 108-inch wheelbase Ramblers and the small import. The old design could be slightly modified and then used for the basis of the "new" American.American Motors' financial condition meant it could not afford to develop an entirely new model. The reintroduction of the old model leveraged the Rambler's renown for fuel economy and wins in the Mobil Economy Runs, with the consumer's need for a smaller and more efficient alternative to the standard-sized cars that were marketed by the domestic Big Three (General Motors, Ford, and Chrysler) at that time.MotoeXotica Classic Cars is pleased to present the 1967 AMC Rambler you see pictured, with only 52,000 actual miles, as stated on the title. This particular Rambler is an excellent example of one of the 1,686 Rebel SST Convertibles built in the final year of production, making the Rambler Rebel Convertible a fairly sought after AMC. The car is mostly original with low, original miles. Finished in the original color of Strato Blue Metallic, the paint is in great condition showing only few minor imperfections which are typical of a 46 year old car. The convertible top is finished in white canvas and is also in great condition, showing only minor imperfections. The chrome on the car is in excellent shape and as a great brilliance and luster. Overall, the Rambler Rebel shows very well. Inside, you will find that the two-tone, all vinyl blue interior is in great shape, showing no wear. The carpet and door panels are in great shape as well. The dashboard is in excellent condition, housing the original gauges, an original chrome tissue box under the dash and the original AM radio. Under the hood, you'll find the 290 cubic inch V8 engine, capable of producing up to 225 horsepower. The engine bay is clean and looks great. Attached to the engine is a 3-speed automatic transmission. This car does have power steering and power brakes with four wheel drum brakes. The Rambler sits upon a set of 14" chrome and red detail wheels wrapped in P185/75R14 tires. The Rambler comes with a framed, original Owner's Manual and Seat Belt Care documents. The VIN is A7KA77H183359 and the mileage currently shows 52,336 which is actually the original mileage. The car is being sold on a clean and clear title. GET OUT AND DRIVE!!!
