Description

The AMC AMX is a two-seat GT in style and approach sports car that was produced by American Motors Corporation for the 1968 through 1970 model years. The AMX was also classified as a muscle car, but "unique among other American cars at the time due its short wheelbase". The AMX was also the only American-built steel-bodied two-seater of its time, the first since the 1955-1957 Ford Thunderbird. To a degree, the AMX was a competitor with America's only other two-seater of the era, the Chevrolet Corvette for substantially less money. With a one-inch shorter wheelbase than the Chevrolet's 2-seater, "the AMX was often seen by the press as a Corvette competitor."MotoeXotica Classic Cars is pleased to present the gorgeous 1968 AMC AMX, complete with the popular Go Pack, you see here. This performance driven 2 seater was all the rage in the late 60s, attracting both young and old alike. Today, the AMX's unique looks still turn heads as it is less often seen and this particular California AMX is no different. Finished in the correct Saturn Blue Metallic, the car has painted white stripes along the famous AMC body lines. The paint is in great shape, with only a few minor imperfections. The chrome is in excellent condition, shines brilliantly and only shows very minor imperfections, if any. The body is extremely solid and sound, as this is a true California muscle car!Inside, you'll find that the interior looks incredible. It appears to have been reupholstered in the recent past and shows very well. There are no signs of wear or imperfections to be found on the black vinyl seats. The black dashboard, door panels and headliner all look excellent as well. The dashboard appears to be original and looks awesome! As previously mentioned, this AMX came with the "Go Package," which gave the car a variety of sporty options including, a four barrel 390 cubic inch, 6.4L V8 engine, which is capable of up to 315 horsepower and 425 foot pounds of torque! AMC did things correct and the 390 AMX engine was given a forged steel crankshaft and connecting rods. Attached to the engine is an automatic transmission. Also part of the "Go Package" was power front disc brakes, "Twin Grip" differential, 14" Magnum 500 style wheels that are wrapped in 205/75R14 newer Hankook tires, heavy duty suspension with thicker sway bars and heavy duty cooling, as well as other performance enhancements. The AMX also has power steering and power brakes. This is a truly a fine example of an American built muscle car from California! The VIN is A8C397X239851 and the mileage currently shows 20,101. The car is being sold on a clean and clear California title. Don't miss out on this one! GET OUT AND DRIVE!!!
