Description

The Lincoln Continental was introduced in 1940, just prior to the onset of World War II. The Lincoln marque had weathered The Great Depression and the Continental signaled to the world that they were serious about their desires to compete in the luxury car segment. The design was modern, elegant, and slightly European with a long front bonnet that gracefully concealed a potent V12 engine. On the inside, they were lavishly appointed and with amenities being offered as standard equipment. Exteriorly, there was little trim or chrome which was done to keep the car simple, relying on the beauty of its design rather than trying to attract based on eye catching bright pieces. The rear fenders were covered with skirts over the wheels. This was stretched to match the rear trunk. Located in the rear of the vehicle was a covered spare tire. This was sort of an afterthought; as production came to a close, the designers noticed there was little room for a spare, so they covered it and incorporated it into the vehicles trunk. This would become a signature design for the Continental series. This nicely restored 1947 Lincoln Continental Coupe comes finished in a beautiful shade of Fire Mist that is a striking color for this car. The paint shows very well with no notable imperfections. All of the chrome on the car appears to be new and in great condition. The stainless trim is just as nice with no notable imperfections. All of the glass is in good condition with just one small rock chip showing on the windshield. Inside, the interior is nearly all new and in great condition. The burgundy carpet with blue and gray seats is a great combination. Both front and rear bench seats are in very good condition with no rips or tears showing. The carpet is newer as well as the door panels which all look great. The dash has been painted to match the exterior and looks good with only some very minor checking in the paint. Under the hood, the Y-Block Lincoln V8 runs great and is a wonderful addition to the car, replacing the underpowered V12. The V8 runs very strong and starts with a push of the button. There's been a new aluminum radiator installed as well as an electric fan and new fuel pump. The transmission is still the original style 3 speed manual that shifts with no problems. The steel wheels are covered with Lincoln hubcaps and beauty rings that are in near perfect condition. The wheels are wrapped with new, wide white bias ply tires that show little wear and no dry rot. The trunk does have a carpeted mat and is solid. The current mileage shows 45,544 and the VIN number is 7H163246.
