Description

The large-sized Lincoln Continental Mark V was a restyled and updated version of the 1972-1976 models. The old Mark IV's more rounded styling was replaced with a more sharp-edged look. The new model no longer shared its platform with the Ford Thunderbird (which was downsized by shifting its nameplate to the smaller Mercury Cougar/Ford LTD II platform.) Interior design remained similar to the Mark IV, with variants in the seat patterns and dashboard trim (while retaining the general dashboard layout of the IV) being the primary differences. In 1978, the Ford 400 cu in engine replaced the 460 Ford 385 engine V8 as standard equipment, the latter available as an option everywhere but in California. The 460 V8 option was deleted entirely for 1979. The Mark V was larger and more complex than its predecessor, coming just ten inches short of being 20 feet long. This '78 Lincoln Mark V comes finished in its original color of Chrystal Apricot Poly with a Half Valino Cordovan vinyl top. This is said to be a 20,636 ORIGINAL mile car that has never seen any kind of restoration. The car looks nearly as good as it did when it was new, from the nearly spotless paint to extremely clean interior and even the brake pedal which shows no wear! The Chrystal Apricot Poly paint is in wonderful condition. It appears that the paint is all original with no touchups or respray's that we can see. The front nose shows nearly no chips or dings that is most commonly seen on these cars. The rest of the car is nearly spotless as well with no notable scratches, dings or nicks. The front and rear chrome bumpers are in wonderful condition with no damage showing to either. Even the overriders are in near perfect condition. Inside, the Cordovan interior looks great and is in like new condition. The seats show no wear and the drivers side is power. All functions work with no problems. The dash, carpet, headliner and door panels are all in great condition and look as good as they did when the car was new. Even the gas and brake pedals show virtually no wear! A tell tail sign that this is a low mileage car. Under the hood, the 400 Cu In V8 runs great and is connected to the automatic transmission. Turn the key and the car starts with no problems and runs down the road like a 20,000 mile car should. The engine compartment is in very clean, original condition and shows no signs of damage. In the trunk there is the original spare and tools along with the matting. The underside is solid and shows no signs of rot. The current mileage shows 20,636 and is said to be original for the car. VIN number is 8Y89S906312. The car is being sold on a clean title showing that it's been with the same owner since 2002.
