Description

The large-sized Lincoln Continental Mark V was a restyled and updated version of the 1972-1976 models. The old Mark IV's more rounded styling was replaced with a more sharp-edged look. The new model no longer shared its platform with the Ford Thunderbird (which was downsized by shifting its nameplate to the smaller Mercury Cougar/Ford LTD II platform.) Interior design remained similar to the Mark IV, with variants in the seat patterns and dashboard trim (while retaining the general dashboard layout of the IV) being the primary differences. In 1978, the Ford 400 cu in engine replaced the 460 Ford 385 engine V8 as standard equipment, the latter available as an option everywhere but in California. The 460 V8 option was deleted entirely for 1979. The Mark V was larger and more complex than its predecessor, coming just ten inches short of being 20 feet long. This '79 Lincoln Mark V comes finished in its original color of Light Red Metallic with white leather interior and is said to be a 17,045 ORIGINAL mile car. This is a one family owned car that was originally purchased by a gentleman for his wife. His wife rarely drove the car and once her arthritis got worse, the car sat in the garage for many years, being seldom driven. It was then given to the son who we purchased it from. We have a signed, notarized affidavit from the family to support the mileage. This is a very highly optioned car from the factory that is said to have nearly every factory option. The paint on the car is original and in very good condition. There are a few minor rock chips to the front nose which is expected but overall in great condition. The front and rear bumpers are original to the car and retain a great shine and quality. No notable damage to be found on either. The same goes for the front grill and all of the trim around the car. The car does have a power sunroof which is rarely see in these cars and it works with no problems. Inside, the white leather interior is in great condition. With contrasting red carpet and dash, this is a great color combination for these cars. The seats are in great condition and are both power in the front. There is some minor wear showing to the seats from age but overall in great condition. The same goes for the carpet and dash which are both original and in very good, original condition. The rear seat belts still have the plastic on them from the factory! There are two small tears in the headliner. All gauges are in good working order as well as light, blinkers, wipers and horn. Under the hood, the car retains its 400 Cu In V8 that runs great and goes down the road with no issues. Connected to the automatic transmission, the car is a joy to drive. The engine compartment is very clean and original. In the trunk you will find a full size spare and jack along with the original trunk matting. The car comes with the original consumer information booklet as well as the warranty card and a doctor's note stating that the original owner was no longer able to drive. Current mileage shows 17,045 which is said to be original for the car and the VIN number is 9Y89S724335.
