The 60-A Leatherback was the first Model A Fordor sedan. The Fordor was announced in early 1928, but didn't go into production until mid-May. The Leather back fordor bodies were produced by Briggs Manufacturing Co., in space leased from Ford at the partially vacated Highland Park plant in Dearborn, Michigan. One unique feature of the early Fordor was the ventilator in the left cowl panel. Observations of original Fordors indicate the ventilator was discontinued in mid-late August 1928.The '28 Model A Leatherback you see here is one of those early cars that still has the ventilator. Benefitting from a complete and very correct restoration, the car shows incredibly well today and has been showed at many shows and concourses. We have over 40 trophies that go with the car that it has won over its lifetime. From the correct styled door panels to the correct steering wheel and visor, this was a very thorough and correct restoration. The paint on the car is nearly perfect with no notable imperfections. This is an all steel body with steel fenders and is the original body for the car. The top is in great condition along with visor and glass. Both front and rear bumpers look great with on damage or pitting. The same goes for the stainless door handles, grill surround and headlights. Inside, the interior has been finished in the correct material and pattern. The steering wheel is correct for the car as well as the pattern on the doors. The interior looks new throughout and shows no spots or wear. The dash has been painted to match the exterior and the gauge cluster looks equally as nice. The inline 4 cylinder runs great and starts with a push of the starter button. The clutch is strong and all gears shift as they should. The engine compartment is very clean and has been nicely detailed. The underside is finished as nice as the rest of the car and is solid throughout. All of the wire wheels look great and are wrapped with newer white wall bias ply tires. The VIN number is A310273 and the car is being sold on a clean West Virginia title. Included with the car are boxes of trophies this car has won over the years.
