Description

Chrysler revived the Newport name for their new, full-size entry-level model for 1961. At a base price of $2,964 (equal to $23,285 today), the Newport was intended to fill the price gap between Chrysler and Dodge that was created when DeSoto was discontinued. While the Newport was successful and comprised the bulk of Chrysler production, the base Newport sedans were detrimmed versions of Chrysler's traditional upmarket models. This '62 Newport Sedan comes finished in its original color of Festival Red with red interior. This is a very nice, tastefully restored Newport that would be a great cruiser for the entire family. The paint is in very good overall condition with only a few minor imperfections showing. The stainless trim surrounding the car looks good with only a few minor dings and nicks. Both front and rear chrome bumpers appear to be original for the car and are in good overall condition with just some fading. Inside, the seats have been reupholstered in a red fabric / vinyl combination that looks great. The same goes for the headliner which is new. The carpet is in good overall condition with only some minor wear showing, the same goes for the door panels. The dash does show some minor cracking as you can see in the photos. Under the hood, the 361 Cu In V8 is connected to the automatic push button transmission. The engine compartment is nicely detailed shows no damage. In the trunk, you will find all of the original sheet metal and no undercoating to hide any spots of concern. There is a full size spare and jack included. The steel wheels are covered with full size hub caps that are all in very good condition. The wheels are wrapped with radial tires all around that have good tread life on them. VIN number is 8123152039 and the current mileage shows 10,908.
