Description

On December 1, 1927, Henry Ford bought full-page ads in 2,000 newspapers to announce the 1928 Ford Model A automobile, the long-awaiting replacement for the Model T. "We believe the new Ford car is as great an improvement in motor car building as the Model T was in 1908," he declared. "In appearance, in performance, in comfort, in safety, in all that goes to make a good car, it will bear out everything I have said here." He could also have been describing the 1928 Ford Model A/AA pickups.Ford introduced light commercial vehicles in the new Model A series from the very beginning, with the Roadster and Closed-Cab Pickups, Styles 76-A and 82-A being immediate favorites. They were soon joined by Panel Delivery trucks, in both standard and Deluxe trim, Styles 79-A and 130-A, plus a spiffy Town Car Delivery truck, Style 295-A, which debuted in 1930. Almost unknown, however, is the Special Delivery, Style 255-A, another 1930 introduction. Of all these models, though, the most popular were the Closed-Cab Pickup and the Deluxe Panel Delivery. This beautiful 1930 Deluxe Panel Delivery was formally part of the Joel Champagne Collection and also been owned by early Ford collector and expert Trey Snyder Jr., the owner of Snyder's Antique Auto Parts of Springfield Ohio. Jim's Auto Body performed a complete, high quality restoration in 2006 to bring it to the standard you see here today. The paint on the truck is in near perfect condition and is finished in red with a black beltline rib and black fenders. This is an all steel truck from the cab to the fenders. With its dual side mounts, spot lights and new vinyl roof, this truck is a true show piece. Inside, the seats and door panels have all been reupholstered in the correct black vinyl and looks great. The steering wheel, stainless gauge cluster, window cranks and door handles all look great. In the rear, the wood bed has been nicely finished and is free of any major imperfections. Under the hood, the period correct four cylinder runs great and is a joy to drive. This truck has been converted to a 12 volt system and has had an alternator installed. The underside is extremely clean and tidy with on rot to be found. The body colored wire wheels are in great condition and are wrapped with newer bias ply tires. VIN number is A3858906 and the truck is being sold on a clean Florida title.
