1958 Plymouth Fury Golden CommanderVIN: LP2E32859--Rare, highly original car--Only 41 known to exist--Matching numbers--L350-CID V8 Golden Commando engine with dual four-barrel carburetors--Original and correct wheel covers available--Sony CD stereo system with CD changer hidden in trunkA 1958 Plymouth Fury was used in the movie adaptation of novelist Stephen King's "Christine," but MotoeXotica Classic Cars has a 1958 Plymouth Fury in our showroom that's anything but a horror show! We are now offering this outstanding 1958 Plymouth Fury with the optional, rare and powerful Golden Commando engine package. The Fury was a sub-series of the Plymouth Belvedere from 1956 through 1958. In 1958, the optional engine was a larger, more powerful one called Golden Commando with two 4-bbl producing more than 300 HP. That year, a Motor Trend test showed the Plymouth Fury racing to a 7.7-second run, followed by the Chevrolet Impala in 9.1 seconds. We are pleased to present another rarity in our showroom with this '58 Fury - one of only 41 Golden Commandos known to exist out of only 5,300 '58 Furys built (according to supercars.net)! And if that weren't enough, this coupe retains all its original components, with the only new aspects of an exterior repaint engine detailing - but that only adds to this magnificent car.Under the hood, the gold-colored, L350-CID V8 Golden Commando engine with dual quad carbs powers this rarity. The engine is mated with a TorqueFlite pushbutton automatic transmission. What specifically makes a Golden Commando? Other than the increased horsepower from the standard 290-CID engines, it was an optional package at extra cost. From Plymouthcentral.com:"Advanced deep-block design V8. 350-CID, 305 HP at 5,000 RPM. Taxable HP 52.7. Torque 370 ft./lbs. at 3,600 RPM. Compression ration 10.0:1. Bore 4.062 inches. Stroke 3,375 inches. Dual four-barrel carburetors with balanced fuel flow to each cylinder and separate idle air bleed inlets; matching intake manifold. Overhead valves, hydraulic valve tappets, high-load valve springs equipped with anti-surge dampers. Pistons especially designed for high-compression ratio. Special high-performance camshaft, special high-performance resistor-type spark plugs, automatic mechanical and vacuum spark control, new splash-proof dual breaker distributor, new spool-type rubber shear engine mounts, vibration damper, rotary oil pump, full-flow oil filter. Full pressure lubrication to all crankshaft, camshaft and connecting rod bearings and to valve rocker arms and tappets. Special low-restriction dual exhaust system."The exterior is a repainted correct Buckskin Beige, and the original chrome brightwork shows few signs of wear with only minor scratches, showing this car was well-preserved. The iconic tailfins of 1950s American automobiles are displayed proudly over the rear lights. The original, correct wheel covers are included with purchase. The interior is an impeccable Buckskin Tan with the vinyl seats covered in protective plastic to help preserve their '50s charm. The gauges are all original and functional, and a Sony CD stereo system with CD changer is hidden in the trunk. With the specialty, rare optional engine, this Golden Commando is sure to be a golden spot in any classic car collection. VIN is LP2E32859, mileage currently reads 81,082, and it is being sold on a clear Colorado title.
