Description

The 1928 Chevrolet National Series AB was offered with a $50 discount off its base price, a tactic GM's low-priced division used to keep sales momentum rolling after Ford launched its all-new 1928 Model A at prices lower than Chevrolet. The plan worked, and though Ford would soon turn the tables, Chevrolet was once again the sales leader in 1928.The 1928 Chevrolet National Series AB was basically a renamed 1927 Chevrolet Series AA Capitol. But it looked fresher, thanks to a wheelbase stretch of four inches, to 107 inches, and a handsome facelift. The new look was one of the first projects from GM's Art & Colour studio, and followed its creation of the 1927 LaSalle. Compared to the 1927 Chevy, the 1928 National displayed a longer and straighter hood, flowing fender lines, lower profile, and smoothly integrated body panels. That longer hood was no styling frivolity; it was necessary to accommodate the six-cylinder engine that was soon to come. This particular '28 Chevrolet AB Coupe has benefitted from an older frame up restoration and presents itself extremely well today. This car has been with the same owner for the last 10 years. The paint on the car is in very good overall condition with only a few minor spots where there are some blemishes in the paint. All fenders are steel as well as the body and hood. There is a full size spare on the back between the optional split bumpers. The black vinyl top looks great and shows no rips or tears. Inside, the interior has been completely replaced and looks great. Finished in burgundy, the bench seat looks great shows no wear. The door panels and behind the seat are finished in the matching material with no wear showing. The dash has been painted to match the rest of the car. Gauges are all new and work with no problems. Under the hood, the inline 4 cylinder starts with ease and is connected to the three speed manual transmission. The engine compartment is very clean and nicely detailed but not over restored. The steel wheels have all been painted to match the car and look great. They are wrapped with newer bias ply tires that have plenty of tread life. The underside is extremely solid and has been nicely detailed. The car is being sold on a clean title showing the previous owner has had it since 2002. VIN number is 3AB77201 and the current mileage shows 38,198.
