Description

1977 and 1978 models received bumpers with recessed channels added to the faces of the bumpers themselves, that blended into corrugated or accordion style black rubber extension trim. Also new for the 1977 model year, 280Zs no longer received the full size spare tire, and instead had a "space saver" spare and a larger fuel tank. This resulted in a raised rear deck area made of fiberboard, reducing cargo space. In 1977-78 an optional 5-speed manual transmission was available alongside the 4-speed manual, and the 3-speed automatic options, which included a "5-speed" emblem on the left bottom edge of the rear hatch. 1977 also saw an update from the charcoal painted hubcap style (with a chrome Z floating in the amber center emblems) to a hubcap that resembled an alloy wheel, bearing a center cap with a chrome Z floating in a black circle. The car you see here is a very special '77 Datsun 280Z. Finished in Fly Yellow, there has been a rare "G-Nose" installed along with a 350 Cu In V8 under the hood connected to a Tremec 5 speed manual transmission. The car comes with the rare sliding sunroof, wheel flairs, custom wheels, 4 wheel disc brakes, custom suspension and A/C. This is an incredibly fast car that is a blast to drive. This V8 conversion was done to professional standards with only the best parts being used. The paint on the car is finished in Fly Yellow and looks great. There are no notable imperfections to the body and looks like a fairly new paint job. The G-Nose on the front is a great touch and goes well with the spoiler and flairs. The split chrome bumper on the rear looks great with no pitting or damage. The car does have the sliding sunroof that works with no problems and is new. Inside, the interior is nearly all new and in great condition. There have been newer black bucket seats installed that look new and in very good condition. The carpet, headliner, door panels and kick panels all appear to be new as well. There has been a high dollar Nardi wood steering wheel installed along with Auto Meter gauges to replace the original stock speedometer, tachometer, oil pressure, volts and temperature gauges. Under the hood, the original 6 cylinder has been replaced with a 350 Cu In ZZZ Crate motor. These high output crate motors are made for horsepower and with nearly 400, this car is an absolute rocket. Connected to the Tremec 5 speed manual transmission the car will cruise down the highway at 80 mph with ease and stay low in the RPM's. The V8 is fed with a Holley 4bbl and exhaust exits through coated headers going back through a stainless dual exhaust system. The suspension has been upgraded all around along with 4 wheel disc brakes with cross drilled rotors. The two piece wheels look great and are wrapped with new 225/45 17's in the front and 245/40 17's in the rear. The tires are all brand new Continentals. The car currently shows just over 50 miles and it is believed to be since the build. VIN number is HLS30409903.
