Description

Subtle exterior changes greeted shoppers of 1954 Ford cars. Half-inch-taller front fenders and a revised grille treatment with a central spinner and circular, instead of rectangular, parking lamps were noticeable up front, while in some models, the body sides lost their split-level chrome trim and heavy rear fender accents in favor of an attractive single chrome strip and subtler fender accents. A new instrument panel with revised gauges and different switchgear greeted occupants. An attractive engine-turned trim panel accented the dashboards, a sporty cue that would reappear in 1955 Thunderbirds. Three series of Fords continued into 1954, with Mainlines being the base models, Customlines in the middle and upper-crust Crestlines on top. Mainlines were available in two-door Ranch Wagon, Tudor Sedan, Fordor Sedan and Business Coupe forms. Following previous practice, Mainline Fords were the most basic, with standard features such as the naturally back-lit "Astra-Dial Control Panel" speedometer, a driver's sun visor, a horn button, rubber floor mats and cotton-padded seat cushions. These lower priced cars made very popular police cars and were made famous in numerous television shows, most notably "The Andy Griffith Show". The car you see here is a '54 Ford Mainline Police Car that has all of the lights and sirens that you could ask for in a vintage Police Car. The paint on the car is in very good condition with no major imperfections. There have been vinyl decals applied that are easily removed if desired. They include a vinyl sheriff's sticker on the side and car number 54 decals on the roof. Car 54 where are you?!?! Spotlights, siren and top light are all in good working order and can be controlled from inside the car. Inside, the seat is in good condition as is the door panels and headliner. The carpet is new as well as the seat covers which look great. Door panels and headliner are both equally as nice with no major imperfections. There has been a vintage police radio/siren installed in the dash which looks great and really sets off the vintage look of the car. Under the hood you will find the correct 223 Cu In 6 cylinder that runs great. This is connected to an automatic transmission that shifts as it should with no problems at all. The automatic transmission makes the car a joy to drive. The engine compartment is very clean and shows no damage or rot. The wheels are 205/75R15 radials and are in good condition with no major wear. They are covered with chrome mini moons that look great. Current mileage shows 83,952 and the VIN number is A4PG152981 and the car is being sold on a clean Wisconsin title.
