Description

Design of the 8 Series began in 1986, with construction starting in the same year. The 8 Series debuted at the Frankfurt Motor Show (IAA) in early September 1989. The 8 Series was designed to move beyond the market of the original 6 Series. The 8 Series however had substantially improved performance, as well as a far higher purchase price. Over 1.5 billion Deutschemark was spent on total development. BMW used CAD tools, still unusual at the time, to design the car's all-new body. Combined with wind tunnel testing, the resulting car had a drag coefficient of 0.29, a major improvement from the previous BMW M6/635CSi's 0.39. Sales of the 8 Series were affected by the global recession of the early 1990s, the Persian Gulf War, and energy price spikes. BMW pulled the 8 Series out of the North American market in 1997, selling only 7,232 cars over seven years. BMW continued production for Europe until 1999. The ultimate worldwide production total was merely 31,062.The car you see here is an incredible 1994 BMW 840Ci that has been with only 4 owners since new. Finished in black with rarely seen tan leather, the car has many add on's from the CSi. The wheels are from a Euro CSi as well as the front spoiler which really set the car off. This has been a BMW dealer maintained vehicle since new and has just had thousands invested to bring it up to the high standard the previous owner insisted on. The paint on the car is nearly flawless and shows only a few very minor nicks and dings. The front and rear bumpers both look great and show no damage to either. The tan leather interior looks great and the leather is in wonderful condition. There are no rips or tears showing to any of the seats. All power functions work as they should on drivers and passenger sides. Carpets, door panels, kick panels and headliner all look great with no staining or tears. Center console shows no cracking and all functions work on the radio and climate control. The A/C blows ice cold. Under the hood, the V8 starts and runs as it should. These cars have incredible engines with tons of power. The V8's are a much more popular engine for these cars since they are far less prone to problems and if they do, MUCH cheaper to repair then their V12 counterparts. The exhaust from the mufflers back has been changed to a Magna Flow system that sound great. The system makes the car sound very throaty when its up in the RPM's but is still quiet for around town driving. In the trunk, both batteries have been recently replaced and the tools are still intact under the trunk lid. The wheels are from a Euro CSi and look great with only minimal curb rash showing. These are wrapped with brand new Dunlop Direzza radials. Current mileage shows 70,305, which is actual for the car. VIN number is WBAEF6327RCC89295. The car is being sold on a clean Missouri title.
