Description

1953 was the first year of the F100 and the last year you could get a Flathead in a Ford pickup. The new '53 F100 was uniquely styled with a slant cab window, fat fenders and larger cab space than the F1. 1953 was also the 50th anniversary of the Ford pickup. Ford celebrated its golden anniversary with a new truck in 1953. The 1953-1956 Ford F-100 Pickup styling was clean and modern, but it had more. It looked like a truck: tough, solid, practical, and ruggedly handsome. That might explain its success when new, and also its almost cult-like following as a collector vehicle. Also helping the F-100's appeal was a well-designed cab with comfortable driving position and convenient controls. The 1954 F-100s weren't that powerful. The 101-horsepower six and 110-horsepower flathead V-8 were carried over from previous years. That changed in 1954 when the old flathead was replaced by a new overhead-valve V-8 putting out 130-horsepower. Later versions of the new V8 generated up to 176-horsepower. Power for the six also continued to rise. By 1956, the six cylinder's power was up to 137 horses. The Ford trucks that followed in 1957 were lower and more car-like. Many still prefer the truck-like 1953-1956 generation, especially to customize. This '53 Ford F100 custom pick up has gone through an extensive frame off restoration to make it what you see today. The top has been chopped 4 inches, all emblems have been shaved and the truck has been given a custom green paint job. During the restoration all new glass was installed as well as a rack and pinion, coil over front end, 400 Cu In Cleveland V8 and C6 automatic transmission. With 3.50 gears in the rear, the truck is very streetable and will cruise down the highway at today's speeds with little effort. The truck was completed around 1,200 miles ago and looks nearly as good today as the day it was finished. The custom green paint looks great with no imperfections to note. The emblems have been shaved to give the truck a smooth look and the grill has been painted to match the rest of the truck. The rear bumper has been replaced with a roll pan with sequential taillights integrated into it which looks great. In the bed, you will find all new oak with chrome slats and gas tank lid. The door vents were removed and now have one solid piece of glass that goes up and down with a flick of the switch. Inside, the cloth buckets look great and show no major wear. The carpet is new as well as the custom wood center console. In the console you will find the controls for the power windows and power vent. Two cup holders, automatic shifter and controls for the A/C are also in the center. The dash has been painted to match the rest of the truck and looks great. Gauges are from Dolphin and look great. They include water temperature, volts, fuel, oil pressure and speedometer. All inlayed in an aluminum gauge cluster. Under the hood, you will find a 400 cubic inch Cleveland V8 that has been freshly built. With only 1,234 miles on the motor, it's nicely broken in and sorted out. It's connected to a C6 transmission going back to a Ford 9" with 3.50 gears. Power rack and pinion steering, power brakes and A/C complete the options under the hood. The wheels are chrome mini moons that look great. They are wrapped with newer radial tires that have good tread life left on them. The underside is solid as you would expect and extremely clean. Currently the truck shows 1,235 miles which is said to be since the build. VIN number is F25D3G14646 and the truck is being sold on a clean Missouri title.
