1966 saw a complete restyle of the Chevelle on the previous frame that included smooth contours, a broad new grille and bumper treatment, and curved side windows. Bulging rear fender lines and a "flying buttress" roofline (tunneled into the "C" pillar) were highlights of the '66 hardtops, shared with other GM "A" body models. The new body reflected the "Coke bottle" body shape that became the fad for American cars in the mid-1960s. A hardtop-styled Sport Sedan joined the Malibu series. Chevelles continued in 300, 300 Deluxe, and Malibu trim. Available engines were a 327-cubic-inch V8 instead of either of the sixes, or the mid-level option, a 220-horsepower 283-cubic-inch V8. Judicious attention to the options list could add a tachometer, mag-style wheel covers, and sintered-metallic brakes. The paint on the car is in great condition with no major imperfections to be found. The same goes for the front and rear chrome bumpers that show no pitting or damage. There have been correct SS and 427 badging applied to the car to give it that true Super Sport look. Inside, the interior is all new and has been recovered in black vinyl. The carpet is new as well as the door panels and headliner. All of which are in very good condition. There has been all new rubber around the doors installed. There have been a set of Sunpro gauges installed under the dash that include oil pressure, water temperature and volts. Lights and wipers work with no problems and the Vintage A/C blows, but not cold. Under the hood, the engine is very clean and runs great. No signs of damage to be found anywhere under the hood. There has been 427 valve covers installed as well as headers, new intake, carb and air cleaner. This is a power steering and power brake car with disc brakes in the front. The trunk is very solid with correct matting as well as a full size radial spare. The radial tires all around have good tread life left on them and the wheels show no damage.
