Description

The Plymouth Fury was introduced in 1956 and continued in production as a model and/or series until 1989. Plymouth had been using the name Fury as the high-performance version of its standard vehicle and in 1956 made its own model designation. The initial desire of the Fury was to highlight the abilities of the Plymouth division and to create a stunning automobile that would capture the attention of consumers and bring that crowd into their showrooms. The styling was typical of the era with the most notable feature being the tail-fins which grew in size during the 1959 model year. It was a popular favorite with many police forces because of its reliability and performance.1960 marked the beginning of the second generation Fury which continued until 1964. The Fury now sat atop a unit-body construction with bolted-on subfame which improved rigidity. The tail fins were removed and the styling was updated to give it a modern appeal. The base engine was a slant six power-plant capable of producing over 145 horsepower. A 318 or 383 cubic-inch eight cylinder in various configurations could be purchased as optional equipment. This particular 1960 Plymouth Fury has gone through a tasteful restoration in Oklahoma where it has been for the majority of its life. Finished in burgundy, the exterior is in great condition with no major imperfections. The paint is in good overall condition with only a few minor spots of touchup and scratches. Both front and rear bumpers have a good shine to them and show no major pitting or scratches. They appear to have been rechromed in the past. All of the trim and bright work around the car looks great with no damage. Inside, the car is nearly all new and reupholstered. These cars have very futuristic interiors and dash's from the factory which a lot of people love. The passenger side of the dash has had a custom gauge pod installed from the drivers side of another '60 Fury. They then placed a newer AM/FM radio in it that looks great. The seats are vinyl buckets in the front and in very good condition. The bench seat in the rear is equally as nice with no major wear showing. Under the hood the V8 runs great and starts with a turn of the key. The motor is freshly painted and looks great. No damage or rot to be found under the hood. This is a power steering and A/C car. Some say the '59 Cadillac was the king of the fins, this car will probably give the Cadillac a run for its money in size. With these monster fins on the rear, this was the end of the monster fin craze and is sure to give you as much attention as you could possibly dream of. VIN number is 3307119744 and the mileage currently shows 15,587. The car is being sold on a clean Oklahoma title showing it was first sold in the state August 18, 1960 and has been with the same owner since 1994.
