Description

First-generation Camaro debuted in September 1966, for the 1967 model year, up to 1969 on a new rear-wheel drive GM F-body platform and would be available as a 2-door, 2+2 seating, coupe or convertible with a choice of 250 cu in inline-6 and 302 cu in, 307 cu in, 327 cu in, 350 cu in, or 396 cu in V8 powerplants. Concerned with the runaway success of the Ford Mustang, Chevrolet executives realized that their compact sporty car, the Corvair, would not be able to generate the sales volume of the Mustang due to its rear-engine design, as well as declining sales, partly due to the bad publicity from Ralph Nader's book, Unsafe at Any Speed. Therefore, the Camaro was touted as having the same conventional rear-drive, front-engine configuration as Mustang and Chevy II Nova. In addition, the Camaro was designed to fit a variety of power plants in the engine bay. The first-generation Camaro would last until the 1969 model year and would eventually inspire the design of the new retro fifth-generation Camaro. The car you see here is an incredible custom pro street that is producing nearly 800 horsepower! This awesome pro street Camaro has had over $50,000 invested to make it what you see today and is street legal! The body is all steel with the exception of the hood which is fiberglass. The paint on the car has been sprayed violet with a heavy metal flake added to make the car sparkle. Both front and rear chrome bumpers are in great condition with no damage to be found. Inside, there has been new racing buckets installed with 4 point harnesses for the driver and passenger. There is also a full roll cage installed inside. The carpet, door panels and headliner are all new and in great condition. A full set of digital gauges have been installed to replace the originals as well as an AM/FM stereo. The center console has been replaced with a Cheetah Turbo SCS shifter and command center. The heart of this monster is a 406 Cu In small block V8 that is producing nearly 800 horsepower. With dual 800 Edelbrock carbs sitting on top of the Weiand blower, the car is a beast. There is a long list of parts on this car. The main components to the motor are as follows; Victor Jr aluminum race heads, Lunati 8:1 blower pistons, Lunati roller lifters, rocker and cam, Barry Grant electric fuel pump, 55 gpm water pump, and Griffin radiator with three fans. This goes back to the built 2 speed Powerglide automatic transmission. The transmission was built with a trans brake and stall converter. The rear end is a narrowed 9 inch with 4.30 gears and 33 spline axles. Wilwood brakes stop the car on all four corners and the shocks are coil overs. The tires in the rear are from Mickey Thompson and are 31x18's wrapped around aluminum Weld Racing wheels. Since the build of the car, there has been 2,200 miles put on it. This shows that the car has been driven and is not just a track car. It has a Missouri state safety inspection sticker on it as well to show that it is street legal. VIN number is 124379N507884 and the car is being sold on a clean Missouri title.
