Description

The K and KB trucks were produced by the International Harvester Company, the first being the K introduced in the mid 1940. In total there were 42 models, 142 different wheelbase lengths and load ratings ranging from 1/2 ton to 90,000 lbs. They are best known for their durability, prewar design in a postwar era, and low price. The follow up to the K, the KB, was introduced in 1947, with the characteristic difference being a widened lower grill appearing like "wings". Between 1947 and 1949 122,000 KB-1 and KB-2 trucks were sold. The KB series was subsequently replaced by the L-Series.The truck you see here has benefited from an extensive restoration to make it what you see today. The motor is said to be the correct 214 Cu In L head 6 cylinder that is connected to the three speed manual transmission. The bed is the optional Knox bed that International used after the war. Steel was hard to get so IH used the Knox beds on hand until they were gone and then started to make their own again. These are increasingly rare to find. The paint on the truck is in near perfect condition with no notable imperfections. The front and rear bumpers have both been rechromed and look nearly perfect. The same goes for the stainless trim going around the truck. The grill is equally as nice. There have been yellow fog lights installed that work with no problems as well as a spot light and sun shade. The Knox bed looks nearly perfect with new wood laid for the floor. The interior is all new like the outside and looks great. The new vinyl wrapped seat looks great as does the body matching dash and door panels. The gauges cluster appears to be new and in near perfect condition. All gauges appear to be in good working order. Lights, horn and wipers all work with no issues. Under the hood, the inline 6 cylinder runs great and is connected to the three speed manual transmission. The truck runs great and starts up with ease. Clutch is strong and all of the gears operate as they should. The motor was recently rebuilt as well as getting a new valve job. New wiring was installed as well as new brakes during the restoration. Under the truck is incredibly solid and is nearly as clean as the top side. The body colored wheels with International hubcaps look great and are wrapped with new Good Year WWW bias ply tires. The spare matches. The VIN number is KB3201793 and the current mileage shows 103 which is said to be since the restoration.
