Description

The Z28 was re-introduced to the buying public in the spring of 1977 as a 19771/2 in response to dramatically increasing sales of Pontiac's Trans Am, which sold over 46,000 units in 1976 and accounted for half of all Firebird sales that year. In other developments, intermittent wipers were offered as a new option and the 250-6 became the standard engine for both the sport coupe and luxury LT models. The 145-horsepower 305 continued as the base V8 and the four-barrel 350 optional on sport coupe and LT models was upgraded to 170 horsepower. However, due to a controversial engine sharing program whereby 350CID Chevrolet engines found their way into Oldsmobile models, this particular engine was in short supply. In fact, for a significant period of time the only way a potential Camaro owner could purchase it was to either order a 4-speed manual transmission or upgrade to the Z28 model. This year the optional "Bumperettes" were offered for the LT models (front bumper only) and were mandatory for all Camaro models sold in the state of California. This 1977 Chevrolet Camaro has been restored as a Z28 clone and looks great. With its 350 Cu In V8 connected to a 4 speed manual transmission, the car is a blast to drive. The miles are said to be original at 60,324 and by driving the car, I believe it. The paint is in very good condition with no major imperfections to note. The front and rear bumpers both look great with no damage showing. There has been Z28 decals applied to the car which look great. The front spoiler shows no cracking or curb damage.Inside, the original black vinyl seats look very good with only a small bit of cracking to the drivers side seat bolster. The rest of the seats look great with no notable wear showing. The carpet is the only thing inside the car that appears to have been replaced. The original headliner is nearly perfect along with the door panels, kick panels and dash pad. All of the gauges are in good condition along with the lights, blinkers, horn and wipers. Under the hood, the 350 Cu In V8 runs great and is connected to the 4 speed manual transmission. Under the hood, the motor is nicely detailed and looks great. It is finished in correct Z28 decals on the air cleaner. This is a power steering, power brake and A/C car. The clutch is strong and shifts with no grinding. In the trunk, there is a space saver spare and correct trunk matting with jack. The wheels are IROC-Z wheels and in good condition. They are wrapped with Good Year radials that have good tread life all around. The miles currently show 60,328 and is said to be actual for the car. VIN number is 1Q87L7L590635 and the car is being sold on a clean West Virginia title.
