Description

In 1962 and 1963 the Nova option for the Chevy II was available in a convertible body style and a two-door hardtop. The hardtop was available from 1962 to 1965, although the hardtop was dropped when the 1964 models were first introduced, but subsequently brought back to the line later in the model year. Like all Chevy two-door hardtops, the body style was marketed as the Sport Coupe. For 1963, the Chevy II Nova Super Sport was released, under RPO Z03. It featured special emblems, instrument package, wheel covers, side moldings, bucket seats, and floor shifter, and was available only on the 400 series sport coupe and convertible. Cost of the package was US$161.40. As mentioned above, the Nova option could not officially have V8 engines at this time-the standard SS engine was the six-cylinder-but small-block V8 engine swaps were commonplace among enthusiasts. The car you see here has had tens of thousands of dollars invested in it to bring it to the standard you see today. The car has undergone an extensive restoration that included nearly everything new on the car. The front end is a TCI front clip assembly that includes disc brakes, rack and pinion steering, adjustable strut, control arms and sway bar. The motor is a fast revving 350 Cu In V8 that is fed with a Holley 4bbl carb. The paint on the car is nearly perfect and finished in a beautiful shade of blue. The paint is very deep and free of any notable imperfections. There are correct Nova SS badges installed on the rear fenders and trunk but all other emblems have been shaved. Both front and rear chrome bumpers look new and were rechromed during the restoration. The front grill looks equally as nice. Inside, the car retains the original style seats finished in black vinyl that is in good condition throughout. The carpet, headliner and door panels are all new as well and in great condition. The dash has been painted to match the exterior of the car and looks great. The original gauges have been replaced with a full set of Dolphin Gauges that include fuel level, oil pressure, water temperature, volts and speedometer. There has also been an Auto Gauge 10k tach installed on the dash. Under the hood, the built 350 cu in V8 runs great and is estimated at 400 horsepower. Fed with a Holley 4bbl and polished intake, the small block sounds great coming out of the headers and true dual exhaust. Connected to the 350 turbo automatic transmission the car is a rocket and a blast to drive. The rear end is a Ford 9 inch with 3.55 posi track and 31 spline axles. The rear end has disc brakes as well as the front. Under the car, all of the floors are brand new metal and very solid like the body and trunk. The car only shows 199 miles since the restoration, just enough to work out all of the bugs and still have a like new appearance. VIN number is 30437K151938 and the car is being sold on a clean Missouri title showing the car has been with the same owner since 2006.
