The 1968 Riviera now shared sheet metal with the Cadillac Eldorado and the Oldsmobile Toronado but remained rear wheel drive while its two brothers switched to front wheel drive. The grille was restyled again with large parking lights housed in a new front bumper. The headlights still retracted above the grille and retractable windshield wipers made their debut. The Gran Sport option was still available and performance was good, despite a 4,222 lb curb weight. Top speed was an impressive 130 mph. In all, 49,284 copies were sold in 1968.The '68 Buick Riviera GS comes finished in its original color combination of Inca Silver Mist with Black interior. The car went through a recent cosmetic restoration that included new base / clear coat paint to match the original shade of Inca Silver. The paint is in great condition with no notable imperfections. All gauges, blinkers, horn, A/C and even the original AM/FM radio are in good working order. Under the hood, the big block V8 runs great. The motor is nicely detailed and in great condition. There has been a new alternator installed recently as well as new belts. Turn the key and the car starts up with no issues and goes down the road incredibly smooth with no pulling to either side. The three speed automatic transmission shifts as it should with no issues. The trunk is solid and includes a full size spare under the mat. The GS wheels are all in great condition with no curb rash to be found. They are wrapped with radial tires that all have good tread life left on them.
