By late 1960 the first Scout was available: the Scout 80, with a 1961 model year. Scout 80s were built between 1960 and 1965. These models were identifiable by removable sliding side windows in 1960-1961 and even some very early 1962 models, a fold-down windshield, vacuum windshield wipers mounted to the top of the windshield and an IH logo in the center of the grille. The Scout 80 had the gasoline-powered 152 4-cylinder as its standard engine.The '61 Scout 80 you see here is an incredibly well kept truck that has been with the same owner since 1993 and said to have been with the same family since new. With its huge 152 Cu In 4 cylinder and three speed manual transmission, the truck drives great and goes down the road with no issues. This is a two wheel drive version which is very rare. The truck does come with a tow bar if you would like to tow it behind an RV or camper. The paint is in very good overall condition and was applied to a very straight and solid body. The white hardtop is removable with a few bolts. There were only a very few removable sliding plastic side windows produced on these Scout's and were only available in the first year or so of production. The bed is covered with a white tonneau cover that snaps onto the body with no problems. Both front and rear bumpers look good with no damage showing to either. Inside, the nicely reupholstered cloth seat is in perfect condition and shows no wear. The carpet is new and looks great as well. The dash has been painted to match the exterior as well as the door panels and kick panels. All of the sheet metal inside the truck is in very good condition. Under the hood, the 152 Cu In 4 cylinder runs great and is connected to the three speed manual transmission. The clutch is strong and has no slipping or chattering. The engine compartment is very clean with no rot or damage showing. The motor has been nicely painted. The underside is very solid as you can see in the photos. The original steel wheels are wrapped with older radial tires that still have good tread life left on them. Current mileage shows 52,334 which is said to be original but we have no documentation to show this. VIN number is FC6231A. The car is being sold on a clean Missouri title showing the previous owner has had the truck since 1993.
