Description

The Pontiac Parisienne is a full-size rear-wheel drive vehicle that was sold by Pontiac on the GM B platform in Canada from 1958 to 1986 and in the US from 1983 to 1986. For most of its life, the Parisienne was the Canadian nameplate for the top of the line model sold in GM of Canada's Pontiac showrooms. Parisiennes were distinct from other Canadian Pontiac models by their standard features: the luxuriousness of upholstery fabrics; standard equipment such as courtesy interior and trunk lights; bright trim moldings in the interior; distinct exterior accent chrome pieces; and availability of 2 and 4-door hardtops and convertibles. In particular, Canadian "full size" Pontiacs were actually closely related to Chevrolets, making use of the economical Chevrolet chassis and drivetrain, though with the American Pontiac exterior body panels and interior instrument panels. As Chevrolets under the skin, Canadian Pontiacs including the Parisienne used the same engines and transmissions as full-size Chevys, including the 230 and 250 cu inch 6 cylinder and 283, 305, 327, 350, 396, 400, 409, 427 and 454 cu inch V8s. These engines were mated to the same transmissions as Chevrolet, including 3 and 4 speed manual and the 2 speed Powerglide and later the 3 speed Turbo-Hydramatic automatic transmissions. The 1960 Pontiac Parisienne you see here has recently gone through a full restoration to make it what you see today. The cars original power plant has been changed out to a tri power 348 Cu In V8 with a four speed manual transmission. The paint and interior are both new and in great condition. The paint is nearly perfect throughout with no notable imperfections. The only spot where we have found is just above the passenger side lake pipe where there is a dent to the lower rocker from the pipe being pushed up. The rest of the body panels are very solid and straight with good gaps and body lines throughout the entire car. Both front and rear chrome bumpers are in great condition and have been recently rechromed. All of the stainless trim looks great with no dents or pitting to be found. The same goes for the lake pipes which are functional. Inside, the interior is all new and finished in burgundy with three tone seats that look great. The carpet, seats, door panels and headliner were all replaced during the restoration and look nearly new today. The dash and stainless trim is in good condition with no major pitting. There has been a SunPro tach installed on the column as well as gauges in the glove box that show oil pressure and water temperature. All work with no problems, as does the AM radio, lights, blinkers, horn and wipers. Under the hood you will find the awesome 348 Cu In V8 with triple two barrel carbs installed. This tri power set up connected to the four speed manual transmission makes this car amazing on the road and very fast. The clutch is strong with no slipping or chattering. The 17" chrome wheels are all in great condition and wrapped with newer radials. The trunk includes a full size spare with matching chrome wheel. The underside is in good, solid condition with no rot that we have seen. VIN number is 0783736224 and the current mileage shows 30,517.
