Description

A redesign changed the Falcon's looks for 1964. The new look was more squared-off, more modern, as Ford pursued the youth market. Later in 1964, Ford's new offering for that market was launched: the Ford Mustang, based heavily on the Falcon's unitized frame design but with no compromises about its youthful, fun intention. For the 1964 year Ford added a Sprint Package which gave the Falcon the 260 V8, a stiffer suspension, and a louder exhaust. Because the Mustang had the same options that the Sprint had for only a small amount more the Sprint never caught on. Even with the addition of the 289 V8 in late 64 the Sprint was overshadowed by the Mustang, and was discontinued after 1965. The Mustang dealt Falcon sales in North America a blow from which they would never recover. The '64 Ford Falcon here is quite simply the best in the country. Judged to a National First Place AACA Senior finish in 2000, the car is as nice today as it was 12 years ago. This car was also among the few that were chosen to be a Ford Motor Company Centennial Display Vehicle. Finished in its original color of Guardsman Blue with Light Blue / Medium Blue Crush Vinyl interior, the car has only traveled 35,461 miles from new. This is also a one owner vehicle as it states on the tile. The Guardsman Blue paint is the original color but has been resprayed once over a completely rust free and accident free body. The front and rear bumpers are both in near perfect condition as is the grill and trim pieces going around the car. All of the lenses are in good condition as is the glass which shows no cracks, scratches or chips. Inside, the two tone light blue / medium blue vinyl interior is nearly perfect with no wear showing to the seats. The carpet appears to be new and in perfect condition. The inside of this car literally looks as good as it did when it was brand new. Every light, gauge and button works as it should on the car, even down to the original AM radio. The car does have seat belts installed. Under the hood, the 170 Cu In six cylinder runs as good as it did when it was new. The motor is incredibly detailed and correct for 1964 down to the decals, battery and filters. The engine bay puts this car over the top and is truly a time piece. The motor runs as good as it looks and goes down the road with no smoking. The underside is solid as well as the trunk which is finished in the correct matting and includes the full size spare and jack. VIN number is 4K19U102372 and the car is being sold an actual mileage New Jersey title that shows the car has had only one owner it's entire life. Miles are correct at 35,461.
