The '66 model was given another new front clip, squared off to mimic the new Charger. Engine options remained unchanged except for a special 273 offered in the D/Dart, a special drag racing edition. Transmissions were mostly the same but with two important changes. The ball and trunnion front joint was replaced with a more common U-joint and the 904 transmissions were now shifted with linkages instead of cables. Manual transmissions used an Inland shifter. The only change to the suspension was an optional, small front sway-bar. The interior featured a new gauge cluster that was rectangular rather than circular. The GT models got new bucket seats, with a vinyl cover metal back, and a full length console.The car you see here is a nicely restored car that has been upgraded with a 318 Cu In V8. This is a true Dart GT two door hardtop that has benefited from new chrome bumpers, newer paint and new wheels and tires all around. The paint on the car is in good overall condition with no major blemishes, just some minor scratches and dings. The same goes for the vinyl top. The trim is in good condition overall but does show some pitting and dings. Inside, the black interior is in good condition with no major spots of wear. The seats have all been recovered in black vinyl and looks great. No rips, tears or major blemishes. The same goes for the carpet which is new as well. The dash has been recovered and looks good. There has been an under dash gauge cluster installed that includes volts, temperature and oil pressure. All work with no problems. Door panels, kick panels and headliner are all in good condition. Under the hood, the 318 Cu In V8 runs great with tons of power being fed from its 4bbl carb. The motor is very nicely detailed with steel braided lines, Mopar valve covers, Edelbrock air cleaner cover and K&N air cleaner. The car does have power steering. The underside is very solid with no rot that we have found. There appears to have never been any undercoating ever applied under the car and shows that it's been in Arizona for almost its entire life.
