Description

Changes for the 1965 Imperials were largely confined to the front fascia and trim. The replacement of the push-button automatic transmission gear selection system with a more conventional steering column-mounted shift lever was one of the most significant changes. The split grille was gone, replaced by a large chromed crossbar and surround, and the headlights were inset into the grill behind glass covers which was similar to that year's Chrysler 300 and New Yorker models with etched horizontal lines imitating the grill. As pointed out by the sales literature, 100-year-old Claro Walnut trim was added to the interior. Production totaled 18,409.The car you see here is an original California car that has been in the same family since 1994. This is nearly an all original car with only some spots of paint touch up. The paint is in very good condition overall with just a few minor dings and nicks. The body is very solid with no rot that we have found. All of the glass is in good condition with no chips or cracks. Both front and rear bumpers are in good condition and have a nice shine to them. The same goes for the bright work going around the car. Inside, the car retains its original color blue interior with new carpet and vinyl seats with cloth inserts. The seats are in near perfect condition. The front is power and works with no problems. The only imperfections to speak of inside the car is the top of the dash which does have some cracking as you can see in the photos. The wood is still in great condition with no cracking or damage. Gauges all work as they should as do the power windows, lights, blinkers, horn and AM radio. Under the hood the 413 Cu In V8 runs great and is nicely detailed but in very good original condition. This is an A/C car that retains its original style compressor. The motor starts up with no pumping of the gas every time and runs great. The car is very smooth on the road and shifts as it should. The underside is solid with no rot showing that this car has been in California the majority of its life. This is a great driving Imperial that has all of the luxury conveniences you could ask for. The mileage shows 47,848 which is 147,848 actual miles for the car. It is being sold on a clean California title showing that the previous owner had the car since March, 1994 and the miles are actual. VIN number is Y353159304.
