Description

Although a facelift was the major restyling news for 1956, there were still many changes in the Series 62 lineup and especially in the Eldorado sub-series. The annual "beauty treatment" consisted of a new grille with finer textured insert and the repositioning of the parking lights in the bumper, below the wing guards. Buyers were given a choice of a standard satin finish grille or optional gold finish, both selections decorated with Cadillac script on the lefthand side. On the rear side fenders of Series 62 models a narrow chrome molding and nine vertical louvers were seen. Totally new models included a pillarless four-door called the Sedan DeVille and an Eldorado Coupe Seville. The latter represented an especially luxurious hardtop coupe, which was built to Eldorado standards and similarly priced. As usual, the standard four-door 62 sedan was seven inches shorter than the other cars in the same series. The car you see here is a rarely seen Series 62 Sedan that has benefited from a very nice older restoration. This is a very nice, original car that came from the factory loaded with options. These options include EZ Eye, Heater, A/C with roof ducts, Electronic 6 way seat and electric window lifts. Outside, the paint on the car is in great condition with no major imperfections and is finished in its original shade of Duchess Green. The front and rear bumpers both look great with no damage showing to either, just some minor pitting. All of the glass is in very good condition with only some minor delaminating showing around the edges. The body is very straight with no bubbling or rot that we have seen.Inside, the car is in very good condition overall and has been reupholstered in the past. It retains its original fabric and colors of green. The green seats look good but are older. They are power and work with no problems. The windows are also power and all work with no problems. Gauges, lights, blinkers are all in good working order as well as the vacuum wipers. This is an A/C car and it does blow. Under the hood, the 365 Cu In V8 runs great and is very nicely detailed. This is the correct engine for the car with VIN number stamped on the front pad. The engine bay is nicely painted to match the rest of the car and shows no damage. With a turn of the key, the car starts up with no hesitation and goes down the road with no problems. Connected to the 3 speed automatic transmission, this big Caddy is a joy to drive. The underside has zero undercoating so there is nothing to hide and very solid. The car currently shows 37,800 miles, which is believed to be 137,800 actual miles for the car. VIN number is 5665115262 and is being sold on a clean title.
