Description

Limited Edition package was offered in 1979 and 1980 and only on black MGB roadsters. During this time period there were 6,668 of these sold. Other items included in this package were the front air dam, LE alloy five spoke wheels, MG hubs, luggage rack, trunk carpet kit, leather covered three-spoke steering wheel, lower body stripes, and a LE dash plaque on the glove box. From 1975 through the 1980, the MGB's featured rubber bumpers. The bumpers appeared to be plastic; however, they were constructed from steel and covered by polyurethane. The bumper was needed to comply with American 5 mph crash tests. The vehicles height also increased by 1.5 inches to conform to standard bumper height requirements. This caused over-steer and body-roll. Modifications to the suspension in an attempt to rectify the problem helped, but did not cure the problem. The MGB delivered exceptional performance, handling, and fuel economy for its day. With over a half-of-a-million examples produced, it is one of the most popular and successful sports cars of all time. This little 1979 MGB comes finished in triple black and was said to be in California nearly its entire life until it went up to the northeast. This is nearly a 100% original car with only new carpet being installed. The paint appears to be original for the car and in overall good condition. There are some minor chips and nicks to the front nose as you can expect as well as some minor bubbling. The front and rear bumpers are both solid with no damage visible. The top appears to be original for the car and does show some staining to the rear window. The soft top does show some spots of repair but has no holes. Inside, the seats are in very good original condition with only minor wear showing. No rips or tears. The carpets all appear to be new and are in great condition. The dash and door panels are equally as nice with no bucking or cracking. Gauges are all in good working order as well as the lights, blinkers, horn and electronic overdrive. Under the hood, the inline 4 cylinder runs great and starts with a turn of the key. The engine compartment is clean with no damage visible. Connected to the 4 speed manual transmission, the car is a joy to drive. This is a rarely optioned overdrive car that does work with no problems. This is a great driving little MGB that is sure to give the new owner years of enjoyment. The current mileage shows 10,753 and is being sold a clean Pennsylvania title with VIN number GHN5UL498962G.
